We had a very pleasant stay at this property during our travels in South America. The room was plenty big and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was so attentive! Everyone was genuinely caring and accommodating at any hour of day or night. A small piece of advice: we woke up very hot at night and were just thinking it was getting stuffy in the room, but turned out the heat had been on. So check the wall radiators if they are on or not, depending on temp preference. We just weren't expecting heaters to be used in the summer. :-) Also, the drive in to the property is partially on dirt road and you have to drive to get into town. This was not a problem for us at all (we were comfortable driving on the roads and seeking solitude), but should be considered if proximity to town is a priority. The breakfasts were very good and generous. The access to the private beach is a nice touch too. Would stay here again in a heartbeat....if only Puerto Varas was not so far from San Diego!

Room Tip: Reserve a room facing the lake.

This is an elegant country home in a secluded area outside Puerto Varas. The bedrooms are huge and lovely. The sitting room is very beautiful with wonderful views of the lake. Dinner was excellent. The gardens are special. A lovely experience

Room Tip: Choose suite Ensenada with gorgeous views of the lake

We very much enjoyed our brief stay here and highly recommend this place. Casa Molinos is a small country inn on beautiful grounds. Our room was spacious and comfy. Breakfast was good. The public rooms are nice too, except for the background music. The location is great; right at the lakefront it comes with a view of the Osorno volcano when the weather is nice. It is a bit out of town, so you should only stay here if you travel by car. Puerto Varas has a number of good restaurants. Try Casa Valdes for excellent seafood with a Basque touch.

We were just in South America for three weeks (ending Jan 3, 2014). The hotel is very nice (rooms comfortable, roomy and well appointed). The staff was also very helpful. The view is amazing (except blotted out one day by an area wildfire/smoke). The location on the lake is fantastic and, although a bit out of town, not a big deal to get to it (you do need a car to go to and from this hotel easily).

Was intrigued by the fact that this was once a private residence. If in that area again, would definitely stay at Casa Molina.

We stayed here for three nights and would return any time.
The view is outstanding. We had a room overlooking the lake and volcanoes and it was lovely to wake in the morning to such a beautiful view. One morning the weather was cloudy but it was still beautiful to see the tip of the volcano above the clouds.
If you like birds, then you will like staying here. There are a number of birds wandering about the lawn digging for worms .. not sure what they're called but interesting to watch. You can get a key from reception and walk down steps to the black beach beside the lake .. the black stones/sand against the lake look beautiful and it's quiet and you can see lots of different birds.
The breakfast was good and staff are responsive if coffee runs out or you want eggs, etc. Also, although breakfast begins at 8, when we wanted early breakfast when we were leaving on a tour it was arranged willingly for us.
Finally, the staff. I have been to many hotels and I experienced all the staff here as the most genuinely willing and helpful I've ever come across. The atmosphere is good and they were always willing to help us which was particularly useful as my Spanish is minimum.
The hotel is out of the main city but it's not far and if you don't have a car of your own then you can easily get a taxi which is not that expensive.
We really enjoyed our stay here and I'll always remember sitting quietly beside the lake, watching the birds and gazing at the beautiful volcano. A lovely memory when I'm absorbed rushing around with day to day work demands!

Casa Molino is located just outside Puerto Varas, on the shore of Lago Lianguihue, with the mountains in the background across the lake. The rooms are large and have a great view of the lake and mountains. All of the public rooms are very nice as well. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was substantial and very good. Dinner is served in the evening, so it is not necessary to go into Puerto Varas to eat. We found the food to be very good, and being able to watch the mountains in the distance change colors as the sun sets made for a delightful experience. There are extensive nicely landscaped grounds, with a large deck at the edge of the lake, perfect for a late afternoon glass of wine.
