The area makes for very pleasant strolling on a (rare) sunny day in Puerto Montt with a wonderful array of woollens, artesania and art, but beware the prices! Lapis Lazuli is more than double what you'll pay in Puerto Varas, so it's worth the 1600 peso (there and back) bus ride to buy, although the selection in Angelmo is unbeatable. Just take one of the blue mini buses that leaves the main bus terminal every few minutes. Be sure to go on a weekday or Saturday as not all the stores are open in PV on Sundays

When visiting P.Montt, you should definitely visit Angelmo for its lively artesania market and big fish market. Try a salmon empañada, they are delicious! The setting of the bay with all the little boats is nice as well. Definitely a must see.

We spent three hours here at the Angelmo area in Puerto Montt. Great photo ops, lots of movement, lots of fish, vegetables and cheese. This place is really selling the Fruits of the Sea. We took lots of colorful pictures and the local crafts are typical of what we have seen in other areas of Chile (Wood, Wool, Ceramics and Leather). Prices are also on a par with other places.

We also had lunch in one of the restaurants on the second tier. My husband first checked out a number of the places where they cook and serve in a very small area. He chose #25C and it was a winner with fish chowder and a plate of fresh fish, potato salad and lettuce. He was in heaven.

The Angelmo Market was super busy on the Saturday morning we visited with throngs of local people buying, selling, eating and just enjoying the weather. We ate at a little (about 10 seats) restaurant at the rear near the water that specialized in empanadas. Very good! We ordered soft drinks and it took a while for them to arrive because they had to go to another store to buy them for us. The harbor is also scenic with brightly colored boats going hither and yon.

You will find all sorts of colors, smells, fish, knitted clothing, food, fruits, sweets, fish... You name it! A very typical & traditional market where you can see & experience the locals at its best! Best restaurants are in the upper floor & the varieties of seafood you can experience are fantastic! Don't forget to have Pisco! That is the best!!!
