“Great place if you like a rustic experience!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

Staying at Antilco is a great experience in Pucon if you want a quiet, secluded location right in the mountains.

Mathias' farm is beautiful, with his horses, farm-fed chickens and homemade bread baking. The location is great for taking peaceful walks around the farm, through the trees and by the river. It's about 20 minutes to Pucon, and about 45 minutes to the closest national park, so a good location to be in depending on what you're looking for (i.e. if you want to be in a peaceful spot, it's great...if you want to be closer to the town so you can access various things like restaurants, booking day trips etc., then it's not the greatest location).

The cabin was good for us, but it is very basic! So depending on your vacation style it might not be for you! We enjoyed it as there was no TV and no internet during our stay due to very cloudy weather so for us looking for a true break, it did the trick! The bed was comfortable and the duvets provided were very warm (thank goodness!) as we were visiting during a time when unfortunately the temperature dropped and we had some rain. But the cabin was perfect for coming back in the evening, starting the fire and warming up with a bottle of wine.

Be warned that in the Pucon area most roads are unpaved, dark, hilly and twisty! If going to the farm I recommend getting a bigger car or SUV to handle the dirt roads (especially when wet!). Also if you're someone who enjoys going out a night (i.e. to restaurants or to have a few drinks) then the location is probably not the greatest as you'd be coming back on poorly maintained roads in the dark. Not only to the farm but most roads to national parks or thermas' are also unpaved and poorly maintained...so keep this in mind when staying at Antico!

Other than that a great experience and I hope to go back again and visit more of southern Chile!

I stayed for 2 nights at Antilco and Mathias was incredible in helping me arrange over email and making sure my stay was exactly what I wanted to get out of it. Cabin was adorable, very clean...shower pressure was better than I have at home and the bed was cozy and comfortable. You're right by the river, so you can go exploring and lose hours just soaking up the scenery.

I did a half day trek with the lovely guides who are so friendly, knowledgeable and concerned about you having a great time. It's different than most horse riding places, where you are a passive rider...here you get to learn about the Chilean style of riding, equipment, horses. You cannot beat the scenery you get to ride through...stunning! Good value for your pesos! highly recommend.
