Well... this place is unbelievable. We took a boat trip at the Villarica Lake and the view we had of it was breathtaking. Don´t miss it!

Great experience @ the volcano Villarica and not that hard! Go with an organisation, leave early, enjoy the walk in the snow & the landscape and go down really fast with some plastic under your butt :)

Do not imagine burning magma coming from the volcano's summit. Although if you go to the top you can actually see some in some craters.
We took a very different approach to the Volcano and instead of taking the road that is closer to Pucon, we took the one closer to Coñaripe. To reach the trail you have to cross an Araucaria forest in a 4x4 and very good driving skills. The effort worth it. You will be almost alone, walking through an Araucaria Forest until you reach the slopes of the volcano. At this point you won't have more forest since you'll be going through the path left by the magma many years ago. Then you'll reach the glacier, which is covered by the ashes of old eruptions. The hike is easy enough and it's about 3 hours, although you have to consider the time you need to drive there, about 2 hours from Coñaripe, maybe a little more if it's your first time driving on a "rally ride" type of road. There are no facilities or places to buy water. You will find very few hikers.

it takes 6 hours if the top lift isn't working. I am ultra fit and still found it difficult. Take at least 4L water per person and lots of bananas.

Don't be scared, just do it! Its a great hike with great guides and so much fun! The views from the top are incredible! Anyone can do it. Bring a little food, water, and sunscreen and you'll be just fine!
