I've been living in Chile for the last three months and was delighted to stumble upon Latitude 39, an authentic American restaurant run by a gringo couple in the middle of Pucon, of all places. Needless to say, my friends and I treated ourselves to a heap of hamburgers, chicken noodle soup, peanut butter cupcakes and more. The prices here are very reasonable by Chile's standards. My three-course meal (including a glass of wine and tips) came up to just below 10,000 pesos. Every gringo I've met who have been to Latitude 39 sing of its praises so you can't go wrong with the cafe. Even if you set off vowing only to eat local fare in Chile, there's only so much parrilla, empanadas and chorillanas you can stomach before you miss the food from back home. The cafe is closed on Mondays and only opens from 12pm.
