“good food, nice location”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

I found this restaurant following a recommendation from a local in Puerto Octay. It’s 7 kilometres west of Puerto Octay. It will soon be easy to locate due to the octagonal building close to the road. From the outside it doesn’t look anything special at this moment, but inside it’s 100% wood similar to a ski lodge. The outlook to the back towards the lake is delightful and there are activities for children to do in the garden - and farm animals to look at. Lunch was buffet style, eat as much as you like – food was fresh, hot food was hot and there was a lot of variety. There are two main dining areas inside and if the weather is good an outdoor seating option. There is also a cafe / lounge area upstairs. My only criticism is that the men's toilets need a complete thorough clean. Service was good and including a soft drink the bill per person was 15,500 Chilean pesos including tip. (circa UK£21)

“Great place, best wild boar ever, not bad desserts”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

I went there because a good friend said the place was a "must go" if you are around. He did not exaggerated. Under normal circumstances I would stay away from an "all you can it" buffet but this place was surprisingly good. The wild boar was awesome. I cannot give 5 points because the desserts were just ok.

“Beautiful location but food not so great”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

The area is beautiful. The restaurant itself is quite charming in a rustic style. Unfortunately the food is not always great because since it is an "all you can eat" buffet sometimes things are overcooked or cold by the time you get to them. Worth a visit but get there early to have fresh food.

“WOW !!!!”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

make sure you don't eat for a few days before coming to this place!!! the food is awesome!!! wild boar, all kinds of meats, sausages, etc... and the bufet spread is spectacular!! we stayed 3 nights in Puerto Octay and ate here 3 times. Make sure to get a reservation as the last night we did not get a seat since it was packed. They also have a great playground for kids and a small trail with animals as well... HIGHLY recommend it

“Tender, tasty wild boar”
Reviewed March 9, 2012

We had lunch at the Rancho Espatapajaros as part of a tour of the lake district and were not disappointed. A smorgasbord of various salads, olives, salsa and Chilean delicacies together with the open barbecue so typical of Chile and Argentina. A slab of wild boar and sauerkraut, salads, sauces were tasty. You can sample as much or as little of the various salads and condiments. Desserts were okay - the creme catalan or similar was passable. Tea and coffee included. You only had to pay for drinks. i an imagine it would be a great place for children or adults as you caan take a walk outside to see the goats, donkeys, llamas, emu (even) and admire the great view from the farm. We had no room to sample any of the other meats available but those with bigger appetites would be more than sated.
