Very short stay overnight. The manager and his assistant were wonderful and very helpful, making up for the limitations of the property. It is well maintained and basic. No elevator and the stairs are quite narrow. The rooms are spartan but clean, well lit, and toasty in the cold weather. Telephone and internet service are limited and costly, but that is the same island wide. The restaurant provided very good food and beverage options, with friendly service. All arrangements can be made through the staff. It's not cheap, but hardly anything is in this place! I had a very restful stay, which is always our measure of a hotel!

We stayed at the Waterfront in January 2014 for 3 days. The bedrooms are tiny. The wardrobe doors would not open fully as it was too close to the bed, the shower was part of the bedroom and had glass doors and gave no privacy at all. The toilet was behind bi-folding doors that did not close properly and again lacked privacy not to mention that it was so small that I had to remove the bin to get in to sit down. The wash-hand basin was in the bedroom as there was no space for it in the toilet. Alex and all the staff are so friendly and could not do enough for you. The food is superb and the menu is extensive. We would not stay here again but we would be very happy to use the restaurant.

We recently stayed in this hotel, the location is great and the staff exceptionally friendly and food very good. The room we were offered was tiny and the wardrobe door banged against the bed.The shower was in the room and was visible as the door was glass. We asked for a swap the other bed room had twin beds and was small with a very small shower which had to be accessed by stepping in side ways. The hotel was closed on Sundays and we were left alone in the hotel over Sunday evening and night we had no access to beverages or food. The staff just disappeared in the middle of Sunday afternoon.

Room Tip: please do not stay here over Sundays unless happy to have no access to any food, beverages or drink...

Water Front Hotel which is very nice is about 45 mins away from the airport in the town of Stanley. More like a bed and breakfast the hotel is very comfortable with many food/drink choices either in the hotel or just steps away outside. The hotel, itself has a very good restaurant with good food and reasonable prices. Internet is available for 10 UK pounds for 100 minutes of cumulative use. Alex, the owner is very friendly and very helpful, he goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Many souvenir shops and a supermarket are steps away from the hotel. You can also take a 20 mins taxi ride to Deep Cove to watch the penguins.

The food was good at dinner, however rarely what I ordered. When challenged about missing courses wrong food I was told I was wrong by a very patronising waitress. In order to get breakfast I had to knock very loudly on the door of the kitchen. There where very few people in the hotel and the service was very slow. The manager was friendly but the rest of the staff where exasperating.

I stayed in 3 rooms in all. 2 where in the main hotel, they where very cramped. One had a seperate shower which was of very poor design and there was no where to keep your clothes off the floor so my only clean clothes got soaked, the staff found this funny. I was woken by the noise from the kitchen below before 7am. I found a used cotton wool bud in the bathroom.

The 3rd was in their annex which is was lovely, its basically a house and has its own kitchen and 2 bathrooms between 4 or so rooms.

Room Tip: stay in the annex.

Unfortunately the Restaurant was closed for re-furbishment while we stayed at The Waterfront Hotel, but they continued to provide a excellent cooked breakfast. The room was clean & comfortable, although the shower was rather compact. Alex & his staff were extremely hospitable and made our stay very pleasant.

My wife and I stayed here for 8 nights over the christmas period and cannot praise Alex and his staff too highly. We stayed in one of the harbour view en-suite double rooms, and have never slept in a more comfortable bed. I have never met more friendly and obliging staff, and they were always ready to put in that little extra effort to make our stay more enjoyable. The food was outstanding. We ate in most of the other available establishments in Stanley, including the only mainstream hotel, and there is no doubt Alex was the best Chef we encountered. If you want to stay in a unique boutique hotel where you feel one of the family, then this is the place to stay whilst visiting the Falklands.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the harbour view rooms.
