I had read the reviews on here before traveling, and especially the review by the gay couple. I am not gay, but she took an immediate dislike to me from the second she saw me and took an obvious look at my wedding ring as if wondering to herself why a man would travel without his wife. I have to say that I found her attitude throughout my two-day stay to be morose and bitter. Yes, the old days were better, but if one is opening one's home to guests, I believe that one should make a sincere effort to be welcoming. She is forgetful - she was about to give my room to other people until I reminded her I was staying for two nights. I would say that Kay exemplifies what I found to be Falklanders' attitudes to strangers: if you fit their expectations of who should be traveling and why (married couples seem to raise no eyebrows) then fine, but otherwise you might get a cool to cold reception for no apparent reason. She warmed up when I paid my bill and wished me a good trip. I felt like she had done me a favour to let me stay in her home, which I truly appreciated but she was not friendly to me during my stay.
