We had a very disapointing stay at the Island Resort in January 2008.
We paid $208.00 a night for the following:
Our room had recently been refurbished, but looked like no one had taken the room back from the the builders when completed - with tape and markings on the doors, cords that did not fit to or in sockets (kettle and TV); No shower door & 1 coat Hanger. A kettle and cups but no tea or coffee.
Hence the TV did not work until I got an adapter from reception and the only way to boil the kettle was to place it on the floor.
To get to the room we had to walk through a building site. We had to fetch our complimentary water from the mini mart, which on one day closed at 5pm so I could not get the water I had paid for; until after a argument with reception.
Our room had not been serviced on the second day of our stay. We asked for it to be serviced. It still had not been done at 7pm. When I asked again we were informed there was no staff to left.
I had to go and find staff on our third day to clean it.
The room did however have a nice view towards the beach and ships beyond. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
Breakfast was served on a makeshift buffet and looked unpalatable. There was no coffee. Tea was served in styrofoam cups. We decided to take a cup of Styrofoam tea and head into town for something we could eat.
I know Singapore is rediculously expensive now, but this hotel was worth $80 a night, not the $208 we paid.
