I've stayed many times around this area, and for me most of the hotels offer a similar price/quality ratio. We were happy with our room at Mayo, which was very clean, bright and new, with good use of space. On the downside, the windows do not open, so we had no natural light. Very friendly service, and a great location mean it all worked out fine. No late chck-out options could be improved, given how transitory a plac Singapore is!

Basically just like others' review, the main problem is the lift is not working and we are staying on the 4th floor. It is quite tiring after a long day roaming around Sg.

Apart from that, staying at 4th floor have another problem, the aircond need some time for cooling, as per the conversation I had with the person on duty. He mentioned normally the person on duty will switch on the aircond 2-3 hours before guest come back, but this doesn't happen in my case, so if you are staying 4th floor (Terrace), make sure they switch on the aircond beforehand.

Getting food is convenient, there are 2 chinese ( non halal) restaurant in 3 minutes walking ( So near that, you barely notice the time pass) that serve average food with decent price. Just don't try the prawn noodle which is really under my expectation ( although the receptionist said this is the best food around), but this may be vary depend on your taste bud, I would say most malaysian will get dissapointed with it.

The receptionist is helpful and willing to give us direction and guide us.

There is an ongoing construction which will wake you up but this is expected. ( well, its a busy city)

Overall good. Will give 4 if lift is working.

After reading the reviews on Mayo Inn, I expected a bit more. Maybe we just had a bad room. The room had stained carpet and smelled really musty and horrible and when it rained we discovered why, the window leaked quite badly and water soon had soaked into the carpet.

The mattress felt quite old and we could feel the springs digging into us.

Oh and the best part.... There is a mosque next door.... so at sunrise every morning you are woken up by a blaring 'call to prayer' song over the loud speaker!!!

The location didn't do it for me either, Little India is quite fragrant (in a bad way) and it is a 10 minute walk to Bugis station and a 15 minute walk to Little India station.

On the up side, as others have also said, the service is impeccable and the girls on reception were ever helpful. Oh, and the bathrooms are quite good in the rooms too.

But I am sorry to say that I wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed here two nights over newyear. Staff were. all very friendly and most helpful. The location is good, the rooms are spotless. As stated in earlier reviews, the lift is out of action and has been for a while, but with the amount of good food in the area, the excercise is an added bonus. The front rooms are quite noisey and the windows are blanked out, it would be good to be able to open them. At least they have a window.

Room tip: Ask for a back room.

Mayo inn was a really nice, clean and friendly hotel. No complanits at all!!!! The staff went out of their way to help us with information. Hotel/our room was on a very busy road but we still slept very well! lots to see and do in little india....cheap bargians and cheap food! (lots of vegetarian options). located in the middle of two MRT stations: Bugis and little india, which was very helpful. Overall great experience, can highly recomend!
