“Central but nice 'get away'”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

If you want to be in central Singapore but want to get 'away', Broth on Duxton Hill is a great alternative. Nice suroundings with quite a few bars for pre-dinner drinks. Food has high quality.

“Cozy stylish restaurant, perfect for a relaxing time with friends or couples!”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

This is one of the longer established restaurants in the cozy lanes of Duxton Hill. The restaurant is supposed to be Australian, dishes are presented in a modern and tasteful way yet not too fussy or over the top. Portions are generous and wine line is quite extensive. There is indoor and outdoor seating, atmosphere is stylish casual (went there for dinner ), dimmed warm lights, some candle light. Service is friendly and efficient for Singapore standard. Went here with three girls for Girls Dinner and have been wanting to go back to try some of the other dishes since! Would be good for couples, dates (good first date place if you want to be stylish but not too over the top or fancy!) friends, business, perhaps not for those with young kids though..!

“Lovely”
Reviewed March 1, 2013 via mobile

Had dinner with friends. Staff was very warm and eating outside was beautiful. Fried oysters and Cesar salad were solid. Main courses of pasta and puff pastry with fish were very good. Sticky date pudding and cheese dish were great finishers. I would come again.

“Still one of the best restaurants in Singapore.”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Having booked this for valentines I was expecting a half-hearted attempt at a decent meal. From the nice table outside through to the shared dessert, this was one of the nicest meals I've had in Singapore. The service was great, the food great and the atmosphere great. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

“Don't Judge a Book by its Cover”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Went to this restaurant as a walk-in. It is located in the gentrified Duxton Hill area which has numerous bars and restaurants. It looks nice with a euro bistro style in an old shop house. The service was courteous and attentive. The wine list is quite good.

So far so good, however, the food was perhaps the worst I have had in Singapore. The menu/food style is allegedly Australian modern and does feature a number of Aus. ingredients including Tasmanian salmon, Australian lamb and kangaroo. The salads were all overdressed with dressings/mayonnaise that taste like supermarket products. The interesting sounding "mushroom brawn" was one of the most badly implemented, peculiar dishes that I have ever encountered in a restaurant. The "signature" lamb main course consisted of lamb fillets (which were tender and cooked pink) coated with burnt garlic and smothered with Bisto like gravy and what tasted like supermarket mint sauce. It was accompanied by roast potatoes and slightly tough green beans. This is Australian suburban, domestic Sunday roast cooking done indifferently, certainly not remotely like modern Australian bistro food, and not worth over S$40. I really cannot understand how places like this seem to be able to survive in Singapore when there are so many restaurants around where the cooks actually know what they are doing. I would definitely not recommend this place. It is a wasted restaurant opportunity.
