I have been a regular if not a frequent visitor to Prime Society over the past few years. I like the location and the building is very good, particularly as you can drift outside post dinner for drinks on the rear verandah.
We started with oysters which were good, they certainly didn't last long. Not Sydney standard perhaps but they all hit the spot. Next came the mains. It is really a steak restaurant so steak is what my party all had. Once again it was cooked just as ordered with our respective tenderloins spot on. What was a little disappointing was the changes to the menu and losing a couple of favorites from the side dishes but all places must move on and update I know.
We caught the restaurant during a change over in the wine menu - a new sommelier has arrived and he is in the process of reviewing the wine list. This resulted in both good and bad. Almost all of the reds we asked for weren't available so in the end we simply asked for a list of what they did. We ended up with a Carmenere from Chile. Not the best given it was over $100++ but it opened up a bit as we ate. It was the last bottle as well so the sommelier spoke to us and recommended an excellent Nappa blend which will become one of their house pours (note it is still well over $100++) but it was a very good choice. Complimentary drinks were given to us on the verandah at the end of the meal which was a nice and unexpected touch.
The food has always been consistent when I have visited as has the service. Again, it passed muster. Waitresses were there when required but never stay away nor pushy. When we were having problems with the wine in stepped the main man. No complaints and I will definitely return at some stage in the future.
