It's rare to find bookstores where you can browse at leisure to discover delightful and unexpected reads. Littered with Books is that unusual bookstore, not only for Singapore but for other major cities in the world where large chains increasingly dominate. It's independent and its choice of books reflects that independence. Its quirky look is charming. You come here to get lost among the titles and come away with a book - or two - that you didn't expect or even know about before you entered. It reminds me of a hip Brooklyn or Berkeley bookstore tucked away, appropriately, down a heritage street near buzzing Duxton hill. There is a thoughtfulness to the way the 2-storey store is laid out and the very, very pleasant staff are there to help but never to bother you. Coming to the store is a like a mini-vacation for the mind. Now you don't need to go to Brooklyn or Berkeley or Manhattan or London for that offbeat but in tune bookstore. It's right here.More
Show lessHow are there not any reviews yet on this place? Littered With Books, in my mind, stands among the great independent bookstores of the world. I love bookstores, but have not seen one so user friendly. At the same time, it doesn't take itself too seriously. There are cute place cards above sections, staff reviews for books, quirky posters, and the requisite cat. Staff are knowledgable and seemed to love discussing books - exactly what you'd want.
To top it off, the range is excellent and prices are great. When in Singapore, skip Kinokuniya and head straight here.
