I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Perhaps my expectations were too high, having read the reviews on Trip Advisor.
Pros:
Good price - we paid for 5 nights in a Classic Room for approx £120 per night.
Handy phone with internet access provided for use when out and about
Comfortable bed
The free afternoon high tea drinks (although the food wasn't very good quality)
Good decor/design
Cons:
We were upgraded to a Deluxe Club room. I was expecting a small room, having read the reviews, but this really was disappointingly small. I was staying with my husband, so we eventually got used to the lack of space but I can imagine this could be fairly stifling if you were travelling with friends. 5 nights in this room was claustrophobic even for us.
The shower blocked and overflowed - apparently not an infrequent occurrence.
The light switches for the bathroom were next to the bed rather than in the bathroom, difficult to access in the night and disturbed the other person that was asleep.
The location was near Little India and was 8 mins walk to the nearest MTR. We mainly used Uber to get around, which is fairly cheap. Personally, I think it would be better to stay somewhere more central, close to Marina Bay etc, particularly if you are only staying for a couple of days.
Service at the bar very slow.
We arrived back one afternoon to find that the maid had left our door open - luckily we had come back to collect something, otherwise we wouldn't have returned for several hours and our belongings could have been stolen.
Overall, not my cup of tea and hard to believe that is the 11th best hotel in Singapore according to TripAdvisor reviews.
