I was looking forward to staying at the St Regis after reading the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. The room was lovely, the staff very attentive, the quality of room products exceptional (the best robes ever!) and the restaurants very good. I was on Level 3 (which is the lowest level for rooms) and the view was of tree tops. In hindsight, I should have booked a standard room - not a deluxe. I understand that the standard roms are on the other side of the hotel with no view at all (and obviously cheaper).

I used the dvd library a few times - some good classics and a change from the standard hotel tv menu.

Also used the JetQuay service from the airport. Was picked up at the gate and taken by buggy to a special customs, seated in a lounge for a short wait while my suitcase was collected. Then straight into a car bound for the hotel. A great service (SGD295).

If you stay here, make sure you go to the fish spa a few doors down from the hotel (towards Orchard Road). An experience!

The Singapore St. Regis is on Tanglin road between two shopping centres, Tanglin Shopping Centre and Tanglin Mall, about a five minute walk to the start of Orchard Road. Another five minutes takes you to the junction of Scott Road where Takashimaya, Shaw Centre, Ion and many other large monuments to consumerism reside. So, good location. The hotel is "relatively" inexpensive for a St. Regis - I saw a number of special deals - and certainly it wasn't full when we were there over Christmas. However, like other top end hotels in big cities, the restaurant, bar and room service are pricey: SGD$19 for an orange juice by the pool. There is a complimentary wine tasting each evening to which I brought a few guests. Wine being so costly in Singapore, it was a nice treat, but the wines I tasted on two nights were decidedly average. There is a pool which I enjoyed despite the water being on the cool side and the pool itself being located in a shadowy wind tunnel created by many tall buildings. The fitness room was modern, clean, good, uncrowded. You can request a Herald Tribune every morning - yes! - along with your Straits Times. The rooms are spacious enough to put an extra bed and the sheets, pillows and bathroom are fantastic. (There's pillow menu with 13, or is it 30, pillow choices). There's a flat screen TV with lots of channels (and one in the bathroom which constantly malfunctions), a DVD player, and also audio inputs for your iPod/iPhone which output your music on great speakers. Your butler can bring you a choice of DVDs from their library (though when we were there, most of the choices were already taken since you can request as many as you want) and he can also bring you complimentary tea or coffee twice a day - a habit I could really get into. My only complaint, which seemed to sort itself out over a few days, was the temperature control which kept our rooms too cold. We stayed in an Executive Deluxe Room (actually their lowest end room - don't you love hotel room nomenclature) and also a Lady Astor room (about the same as an Executive Deluxe but with pastel colours and more ladylike furnishings). Bottom line, you'll be happy and if you got a good rate or points deal, you'll be really happy. Oh, and I forgot, you can obtain free parking passes for your guests from the concierge.

The St Regis is Gorgeous and at Christmas the huge tree and decorations in the lobby were outstanding.. The rooms are beautiful and better and bigger than they look in the photos. The only problem is the vast number of buttons for the lights with labels that don't make sense. I husually don't use a pool in a city hotel but the herethe pool and spa are too beautiful to ignore. I rang to ask for grenn teabags to be told " madam, the butler will bring a pot of tea. " it came with fine china cups - perfect. The only problem was that we did not receive an invitation to Christmas Eve drinks until after the event and that breakfast is not included in the rate. The location is at the quiet end of Orchard Road but within walking distance of the busy parts so it is like an oasis. I would definitely stay there again.

Good location, near Orchard road. Very elegant reception with Botero sculptures. Our room was not ready on check-in (at 6pm!) but they gave us a free breakfast to make up for it - a pretty good deal for a 15 minute wait as it was a great buffet. Bathroom is as scandalous as all the other reviews say and the room was better than it looked in the hotel photos (not as small as we expected). Only hitches - bathroom tv didn't work, they didn't have any the pillows we asked for on the crazy pillow menu and the butler never brought us the water we asked for. Overall though a very fancy place and worth it for some over the top spoiling yourself.

I don't know what to expect from most St Regis hotels - we usually opt for the Four Seasons, the Peninsulas or Ritz Carlton's - but this hotel was TRULY awesome. Absolutely incredible, 1st class service, the lobby was breath-taking and the room was incredible! I can't really begin to explain the feeling when every single staff person you meet greets you with a genuine smile and a nice hello. It was Asian class and hospitality at it's best - every hotel in Singapore should strive to be more like this St Regis (American hotels have no chance in matching the service at this place - sorry - just being honest!). Private butlers for all guests, a pool that looked like a piece of art, stunning water features, marble all over the place and a huge, amazing room. Plus - did I mention the outstanding service? Definitely in my top 3 hotels of all time. Stay here - you will be impressed.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my husband as part of our honeymoon. We loved this hotel so much it was difficult to leave!

The service we encountered was all very great. Check-in was very friendly. Since we are Starwood Gold members we were upgraded to a deluxe room, which was very pretty and well-appointed. Waiting for us in the room was a plate of chocolate desserts and macarons with a sign saying "Congratulations."

Our butler, a Japanese woman named Hitomi, was excellent. We asked her to press some clothes and also contacted her one night when we needed express dry cleaning service. She was always very professional and kind.

We took advantage of the complimentary tea/coffee menu several times a day.

The two men working at the concierge desk were both helpful and assisted us in making various dinner reservations.

My one complaint was that the men at the entrance who assist in calling taxis were not very warm.

However, all in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

we stayed in a grand deluxe rm (garden view) on a high floor. this is a truly exceptional property with high spec finishes everywhere you look - e.g wood panelling, gold trim, marble everything! the bathroom is sensational with a free standing tub, in-wall tv, double basin and huge shower.

the butler service is good, with unpacking and pressing on arrival but we didn't see the butler again until we ordered an in room dvd - the butler appeared with a strangely sub-standard list of choices. the dvd service needs upgrading as it sticks out as dragging the rest of the amenities down. the butler concept is well-sold but not really well executed.

the value-adds at this property really justify the room rate. the spa is complimentary and top shelf - I spent hours each day there in thefive different zones (separate male & female wings). there was free wine & cheese during happy hour during our stay (served in "decanter"). outside happy hour there were excellent hors d'oeuvres served in that same bar, and poolside during the day.

Only slip up - the French-accented manager at Labrezza was rude. Otherwise the hotel is deservedly one of Starwood's best offerings.
