“Great Hotel”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Stayed on Feb 01, 2013 to celebrate our anniversary, great hotel, great service, upgraded to the penthouse room on the top floor with a good view.

the only thing i didn't like was the doorman, who thought he was superior than everyone around him, he was helpful but that tone was just irritating me. it happened at the worst possible time as well, when i was leaving the hotel, so all i can remember was that encounter and hence the delay in this review.

Breakfast was nice, but the best was the coffee for me.

Me and my husband spent only one very short night here, but both of us were "sold" to St. Regis through our experience here.

We arrived around 1-2 am at night, and the service began excellent from the front doorman to the front desk associate who checked us in at that time. Both were very friendly and when I requested for a late check-out around 1 pm, my request was accomodated right-away without any hesitation.

When we finally got to the Executive Deluxe Room, exausted after a 17 h++ flight; the room's warm and luxurious ambience immediately made us feel relaxed and worthy of the wait to get there! The decore was simply gorgeous as the pictures depict it online!! Very tastefully furnished, including the Bose sound system, the rooms were trully superb. It had an equally matching luxurious, clean, spacious french marble bathroom with a free standing deep soaking tub that had its own TV.

The service continued to be fantastic even with our very late orders for hot chocolate from the buttler service at 2 am. There was only one slight delay in our request for tea, but the head buttler called himself and apologized very politely before I could even complain.

The only point where the service was not superb was, when we cheked-out at the front desk. The front desk lady present at this time, was not as friendly and courteous as the younger associate who checked us in. But other than her, everyone else, specially the doormen, continued to be very friendly and courteous.

As per location, St. Regis is located further from Marina Bay area. It is still easily accessible using the MRT station nearby. There is about a 10-15 minute walk both to the MRT station + the popular Orchard Road shopping area, as well as the Singapore Botanical garden, located on the opposite side. But the locale of the hotel, is indeed very pleasant, clean, safe & quiet, with options for food/ even shopping nearby.

Overall, St. Regis was our favorite hotel out of our short Singapore visit which inluded a stay at the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel. If I visit Singapore again, I will definitely like to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone else as well.

Room Tip: The Executive Deluxe Rooms have gorgeous interiors. May not have the best view though.

After staying for many years at the Shangri La when visiting Singapore we were persuaded by relatives who live in the St Regis appartments to try the adjoining St Regis hotel and being an SPG member meant we could collect a few points during our two day visit this week as well.We were not disappointed ! It is an excellent and worthy 5 star hotel and well up to international 5 star standards (I am not sure about the claims to be 6, it sounds a bit like Qatar Airways). Check in was smooth and without hassle(although no welcoming drink was offered) and we were quickly shown to our executive double room overlooking the pool. The room was spacious enough and well furnished but we do not like carpet on the floor,we prefer wood for ambience and cleanliness. There was an alcove for the luggage and a luxurious marble bathroom. The butler service with the room was excellent and very quick and my morning tea arrived always on the dot at the requested time.An excellent touch was the evening "free wine tasting" offered to guests between 5.30pm -6.30pm which allowed you to taste a selection of 3 different wines of your choice accompanied by complimentary cheese and grapes.Check out was equally quick and trouble free and we can say that we enjoyed our two nights at the St Regis, Singapore. The only real quibble we had during our stay was that many of the supposedly hot dishes on the breakfast buffet were not at all hot but barely warm. When I complained about this to the restaurant supervisor on the first day, my complaint was taken seriously and discussed with the senior cooks and profuse apologies were offered. On the second day the same staff were keen to know if there had been an improvement and I had to confirm yes but the food was still not quite as hot as it should have been. I did however appreciate that the staff took my complaint seriously.

Room Tip: Room 913 is on the quieter pool side and so not facing the main road. We slept very well with the la...

I am a regular at the St Regis Singapore and stayed 1 night in Feb 2013.

The service was spot on as usual and I was kindly upgraded to a suite as befitting my Starwood Platinum status. The other Platinum amenities (e.g. late checkout, 500 SPG points, complimentary WIFI/internet access) were duly accorded without any fuss.

The Caroline Astor and St Regis suites are tastefully decorated and come with separate living and sleeping areas..the main difference is that the former suites are situated on higher floors and thus are bigger, otherwise the decor and layout is the same. The bathroom boasts a shower stall with rainshower and side-jets as well as a large tub to soak in...bath salts and a luffa are part of the standard bath amenities, which also include a full range of Remede products (e.g. bath gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and face wash). These products are the full-sized ones and not miniature versions. I also like the fact that they provide mouthwash and mineral water for brushing your teeth - how luxe is that?

The king sized bed is comfortably large and provided me with a good night's rest. You may choose from a range of pillows from the pillow menu. There is also an iphone charger/music player by the bedside.

The St Regis butlers are there to take care of your every need. You can ask them to fetch you a cup of TWG tea or coffee at ANY time of the day (my personal favourite is the Alexandria tea). Ditto for shoeshine service and luggage packing/unpacking. I always checkin whenever I want to be spoiled.

There is nothing wrong with the location...the nearest MRT (Orchard) is about 5-10min walk away or you can always take a bus from the opposite bus-stop. Lido cineplex and Ion Orchard, Wheelock Place plus Forum Galleria are all within walking distance.

As for in-room entertainment, you can always knock yourself out with the remote control (this controls mood lighting in your suite as well as opens/closes the night/day drapes). For more traditional entertainment, the in-room TV boasts a sizeable collection of cable TV channels..although the mioTV channels tend to hang :( The butlers can also provide you with a list of complimentary DVDs which you can borrow to watch during your stay OR you may purchase in-house movies to watch (these are included in some of the special rates).

The gym is adequate although I would have liked more machines and free weights to allow for a more serious workout. The swimming pool is perfect for lounging in the afternoon sun, although the tall buildings nearby do tend to block off the sunlight.

Be sure to check out the complimentary wet spa area of the Remede spa. The steam room is graded into 3 different temperature zones, and the jacuzzi bath comes with strong jets. There are also 2 heated marble chaise loungers for you to rest your tired muscles, and a foot reflexology path.

There is a choice of 3 restaurants within the hotel: Yan Ting (cantonese), Brasserie Les Saveurs (international/european) and La Brezza (mediteranean). Breakfast is presently limited to Les Saveurs and the spread is delicious. A word of caution - do try to have an early breakfast especially over the weekend in order to avoid a long queue for breakfast.

All in, the St Regis Singapore does not disappoint and it remains one of my favourite local Starwood hotels. The price may not come cheap but you are paying for the quality and prestige of residing at a St Regis.

Room Tip: Ask for the Penthouse room; the St Regis suites and the Caroline Astor suites have the same layout a...

Not a terrible hotel. That would be to overstate the case. Mediocre all around for a hotel that claims to be a "6 star" hotel ? Absolutely. The rooms are nothing special. The location is good, but not great. The service is alright, but not at all comparable to the Ritz-Carlton in the same city, nor does it have the history of Raffles. To be fair, the butler service is A+ and the butlers were all impeccable. This is a great feature. But Singapore is rife with 5 star hotels, and all of them I am aware of are preferable to this hotel. Finally, the hotel is among the most expensive of the luxury hotels in Singapore - only Raffles and The Fullerton Bay have pricier average room rates. Again, terrible? No. Mediocre? Yes. Spend your money elsewhere.

Tremendous time, marred only by a small hiccup during breakfast, when we were moved to the second breakfast room, as the main room was full. it was understaffed and food felt very subpar. This trip was meant to be a birthday celebration for my significant other. Good butler service with great initiative taken, concierge was great and without appointment showed us around the wedding facilities at the hotel. All in all quite brilliant.

Room Tip: The Penthouse Room is fantastic value. Have breakfast in the main breakfast room though.

I stayed at the St. Regis Singapore for 1 night on a trip to Singapore in late January. I am an avid traveler and loyal Starwood member and was pretty disappointed in the St. Regis Singapore. Yes, the room was beautiful, but the service was absolutely not up to par. First, we waited in line forever to check in--while there were 3 check-in kiosks, only one was staffed, and there were several parties in front of us. Second, we waited in line forever again to speak with the concierge about visiting the Night Safari. And the concierge could not even tell us the hours of the Night Safari (keep in mind this is one of the most popular attractions in the city), nor did she offer to look it up for us. Third, our room was supposed to have complimentary butler service. We never saw the butler, were never offered tea or coffee, and did not receive turndown service. As I said, the room was beautiful, but for the price of this hotel, I would suggest the Raffles, Ritz or Four Seasons, which would likely offer much better service for the price.
