“Luxurious Hotel, Excellent Service”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

As part of Starwood promotion, I've gotten 2 free nights stay at any SPG establishments. And since I'm always travelling, I've thought of getting a staycation in Singapore, and also use this opportunity to invite some close friends for a birthday get together.

Booked St. Regis for 2 separate weekends. Arrived at 3 p.m. at the hotel, grand entrance and nicely staff. The check-in staff was very friendly, gone thru some of the hotel facilities, breakfast timings. She also noted that I had 2 booking on 2 separate weekends, and asked if I was celebrating any special occasions since most locals book hotel mainly for special occasions.

Told her that this weekend is for a simple relaxing staycation, and the next stay was for my birthday celebration. She noted this into the hotel system, and was greeted "Happy Birthday" on my next stay.

I was given an option to upgrade to a room with better view, but I needed to wait for about 15 mins as it not ready. I opt for the better view, and the front desk ushered us to the cafe and offer us a drink on the house while we wait for the room to be ready.

Soon, the room was ready, and we are all set to check-in. The room was huge and luxuriously furnish. The bathroom was very big, and toiletries are good quality, products from the spa in-house. Beds were comfortable and pillow menu was available.

Every evening, there's free wine tasting and cheese at the decanter. My friend and I joined the wine tasting, and enjoyed ourselves chatting away. As the hotel doesn't have any lounge, we were offered to go to the pool-side restaurant for an free evening cocktail too. Had a couple of whiskey and finger food.

St. Regis is located at the corner of orchard road, (tanglin road to be exact), so the dining options were aplenty. Decided to walk down the street and look for steakhouse as we were both craving for it.

As we were back to the room, we decided to watch a DVD before retiring for the night. Both my friend and I tried to operate the DVD but just couldn't get it to work. So we called the butler services, and soon enough, they sent a well-dress butler to the room to orientate us to use the system. Silly us, the cover was covering the button, which we were missed out.

The butler also offered to bring us some coffee and tea while we watch DVD at the comfort of the room. And it's a free flow of coffee and tea from the butler service.

Breakfast was the highlight of all staycation, and thus my friend and I woke up early to enjoy a sumptuous start. The selection of buffet breakfast was great, good selection of dimsums and amongst others. Fruits platter was fantastic, there were almost about 10 different types of tropical fruits, and we were really spoilt for choice.

Reading the morning papers, and enjoying a sumptuous breakfast is indeed a good way to start the day.

There are 2 places for breakfast, one at the lobby, and the other one at restaurant by pool side. Was ushered to the 2nd restaurant, as we were late on the 2nd stay, and only the restaurant by the pool side was available.

The selection at the 2nd restaurant was smaller, and just very basic breakfast and a good selection of fruits. Something worth noting was that, I had 2 other friends who joined me at St Regis over the birthday weekend. The hotel was nice to offered an additional free complimentary breakfast, despite that the breakfast was for 2.

The pool was very small, almost just for you to dip your legs. Didn't really wanted to spend time there, as the bed just kept pulling you to it.

Overall wonderful experience, for both weekends. I'm very picky when it comes to hotel, but I can't specifically pin-point anything that wasn't up to standard.

Stayed here for the Singapore Grand Prix. It is a very luxurious hotel, wifi was free and breakfasts just awesome. This was the last hotel on a seven week holiday and it was a great place to end such a trip. The Butler service is first class

Room Tip: Don't think any rooms would disappoint!

My husband and I stayed 4 nights on our way to Bali. Check in was quick and staff was courtious. Rooms are all well appointed and clean. Butler service a bonus for free coffee delivery in the morning. The gym was clean, and the treadmills overlooked the small pool area. They had free wine and cheese every night at the hotel. Other reviews say it is a far walk, however we felt the hotel was the perfect location. You could take a short 10-15 min walk left out of the hotel to the Botanical gardens. It is a shorter walk the other direction to the shopping malls. We enjoy walking and taking in the sites that way. It was my husband's 50th birthday trip and we felt it was a great hotel and location to start off our trip. Note - We found Singapore very expensive. 18 dollars a beer expensive.

Having just had four nights at the best hotel in SEAsia, it was a tough act to follow. The front of house/door men were surly and the staff, in general, not really friendly except the bar staff. Had a different butler each time I called for one so not great. The tennis ourt was not up to standard and considering the cost, shameful. The pool? All you can do is look at it. It is not for swimmers nor can I say anything good about the pool area that is positive. The sun beds are crowded together to catch the small area of sunshine as the pool is completely overlooked. The laundry costs are outrageous as is WiFi in the room. Nexttime I shall book the Four Seasons again where I stayed in July, much better value or money all round.

Stayed here two nights for a Singapore stopover, from check in to check and all in between this hotel ticks all the boxes. Gota room upgrade which was due thanks to Gold SPG status, the room a high level was well appointed and the butler service a great added touch specially the pressing service and pots of tea delivered to the room at a phone call. If there is one place we would mark them down is that the breakfast included with our rate the hot hot food needed to be hot, but hey a minor detail because the choice at the buffet breakfast never left you hungry. Looking forward to our return visit on the way home.

St Regis is a high level hotel but not exactly located where the action is. Its about 1 km away from Orchard road where all the restaurants and shops are (starting at the crossing of Scott and Orchard) and when it rains like everyday in Singapore the walk is not convenient (taxis are hard to find when it rains). You cannot get your room before 3 pm so be ready if you arrive early and the concierge and butler service are not up to the standard they should have for such an hotel. Be careful if you ask the hotel to book a taxi for you it cannot be charged to your room. In conclusion nice and luxurious rooms but service to be improved.

I stayed at this hotel as part of my honeymoon. The room was stylish and luxurious (exactly as the photos on website). Butler service was great and was given a surprise of cakes and wine in our room.
Breakfast was very nice and the room was full of the luxury one expects from a St Regis.
Location is a bit out of the way from Orchard MTR but well located as Singapore is small.
