“Penisular-Excelsior stay”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during short trip to Singapore on level 18 in the Excelsior Tower. We paid cash in the bar, which was a lovely ambience with great service. We had only one meal there which very good. A French Onion Soup and a Chicken Rice. The room was clean and bedding clean. Bathroom was clean. Adequate towels everyday. There was free Wi-Fi for my mobile.

Service was excellent and the concierge really looked after us.
The best I can say is that we would return to this hotel when we are next in Singapore.

Room Tip: Where we were on L18 is a non smoking floor and noise levels were very low.

This was a superb experience at Peninsula Excelsior Hotel. We stayed in the Excelsior tower and were upgraded to a bigger room upon arrival. Reception staff were helpful and quick. Only had to call them once for internet connection, and they responded promptly. also had free wi-fi pre-booked, which was handy for us. Swimming pools were good, although changing rooms and related facilities need some work. Location of the hotel is really good; in middle of major tourist and business attractions. The only consideration is the arrival point to the hotel, which doesn't seem to be very welcoming. I think the hotel can provide a welcoming service at the ground floor to ensure having a first good impression on the customers.

Room Tip: upper level rooms have better views of the city

Spent 5 nights to unwind with family. The rooms are decent enough. Was allotted a very small room which had just enough space to squeeze in to the bed, squeeze in to the bathroom. So much squeezing in that I had no place to stack my baggage. Wife protests. Voila... a spacious room provided on a higher floor. Exelcior tower does not have a clear view of the Marina bay. If fuzzy about it, insist on Peninsula towers. Best part of this hotel is its location. Walking distance from Clarke Quay, Marina Bay and adjacent to malls. With a child around, found this place very comfortable. Nothing exclusive about the service. Not really convinced about their breakfast buffet though. I guess it was a make shift breakfast place. Smaller hotels have far better breakfasts and settings. If you are in S'pore for sightseeing, this place is ideal.

My husband and I stayed in room 1112 (11th floor), for 2 nights in may.
Well, where to start...
Positive - good location & reasonable room size, nice staff & free toothbrushes!

Sadly, that's about it for the positive.
Negatives - our room was directly above all the roof air conditioners, and noisy as anything.
Bathroom and carpet have definately seen better days. The carpet had quite a rank smell, that continued to overpower us for our 3 day stay.
The shower had been patched, repaired and touched up badly, and had a fair amount if mould in it.
The bed was not of a good quality either, although we did manage to get some sleep.
This hotel was chosen as part of a Singapore airlines stopover deal, and to be perfectly honest, if it wasn't for the bonuses we would have been really cheesed.
The hotel does rate at 3-4 star, and while the lobby may be that, I'm not convinced about the room we stayed in.
We didn't venture into the pools, mainly as I was fairly concerned about the cleanliness, particularly after seeing the shower and change facilities ( which had scum on the shower floor).
We didn't eat at the hotel, so am unable to comment on the restaurant.
I think that there would be much better hotels around than this one.

We stayed here for 5 nights in total, 3 nights on way to China and 2 on the way home. We found it to be so central to everything we wanted to-do, Plus if we wanted to venture out further the taxis were really cheap. The staff were really helpful but the rooms need a bit of a freshen up they smelt a bit mouldy. My husband is a smoker so we said we would have a smoking room, not a good idea as over there they actually smoke in the room, the person before us must have smoked cigars which was so strong. When we asked to change rooms they were great about it. The buffet breaky is ok not the best I've had but its a good start to the day.

Room Tip: The corner suites are better as you get 2 windows make sure your not by an elevator as apparently th...

I was in Singapore for a business trip and I was given this hotel to stay for 3 nights. Room wise and location are excellent. I loved the view of the city. Hotel is very accessible to town and nearest MRT station was City Hall. Just a few stations away you can get to Orchard, Bugis, etc.
However, the restaurant during breakfast was a little packed and you might not get a place to sit if you had not have to share tables with some one else.
Housekeeping was on top condition that they are willing to clean your room anytime.
Overall, it was an excellent hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel once before and it was ok. Booked in for a group in May 2013 thinking it would be a reasonably priced hotel on our budget. Well we had a double room and a triple booked. Was advised they were on different floors, we werent happy but agreed. The double room faced the back of the hotel, so not a very good view. The triple faced the front, was absolutely filthy, looked like it had not had a proper clean for weeks. Dust all over the furniture, the toilet and bathroom were disgusting. Had black ring where the glass bowl joined the bench, all black around the base of the toilet. As you walked on the carpet dust sprang up. We requested they clean the room, which they did and still only gave it a cursory wipe over.
I think they only thing that saves this hotel is its location. The staff were non committal about everything and not friendly at all. I felt sorry for them as they seemed to be able to do nothing about our issues without the managers approval. On the website it states this hotel has free wi fi. It does not, only in the club rooms. We told them they need to change their website then as it is misleading. Once again the poor staff could do nothing.
Next time I am in Singapore I will still stay in the same location, but will choose one of the other hotels nearby. The other thing that happened was we came back from being out one night and there were 2 door cards left in the room. We rang reception and they said no-one had been in the room. Well where did the cards come from, they did not open the door to the room and werent there before. Also the light in the wardrobe was on, which we had never turned on because we couldnt figure out how to. Nothing was stolen, but it was eerie knowing that someone had been in there.

Room Tip: apparently if you are on the 8th floor or below you are peasants.
