“Great View of Singapore”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

This hotel is quite a big hotel and the lobby looks spacious and comfortable , the room was nice for i can see the view of Singapore City . The toilet have a bit small but still ok for me . The internet connection is damn poor , it's connected , but i cannot surf anything and in the end , i have to use my 3g and pay for the roaming rate . whatever , I love this Hotel , for it's my memories between my friend and I ... I enjoyed the stay so much !

Really basic, to the point of being shabby and not clean. In my first room the bathroom was so small the door hit the loo as you tried to open it. Felt like i had returned to student days. I foolishly ordered room service on the first night and what turned up was a disgrace. I have posted the picture of my tom yum soup.... which i sent back as soon as it arrived. I wont be staying there again.

The service was excellent and the hotel facilities were great, unfortunately the rooms were 'moist' not damp from the humidity. There was air conditioning and it worked fine, although it was a bit noisey to leave on overnight. Also you had to pay for internet connection, other places it was included for free. It has an excellent location and you can visit the Sky Lounge on the 22nd floor to view the Marina Bay Light Show, if you want a good view you need to stay in the Peninsula Tower. The price for the room was reasonable for the area it was in.
Although the room was cleaned daily it was not done very thoroughly. The room was very spacious, the TV was small and the bed was firm, which we liked.
The food can be included in your package but we chose not to do that. We did eat breakfast at the hotel and the food was tupical of most 'full breakfast' you get in other places. We did eat out and found reasonable places to eat at cheaper prices.

I stayed at this hotel recently for work and had chosen it specifically because of its location and a decent nightly rate. I was in Singapore for work on a fixed reimbursement amount and this was one of only a few hotels that met my budget needs.

It really is the location of this property that makes it a good value. It is central to most things in Singapore and walking distance to many of the best areas. Despite a facelift in the rooms, they leave something to be desired. There is nothing bad about the rooms, mind you; they just feel rather Ikea-like.

What was really disappointing, and frankly would prevent me from staying here again, was the breakfast. My rate had breakfast inclusive and based on past experiences in Asia I was looking forward to a good spread. This felt more like a feeding frenzy ahead of a major cyclone with throngs of people crowding around the food, acting like it will be their last meal for days. Food selection was not good, they ran out of coffee regularly. Still, it served its function.

You have so many options in Singapore that I am not sure this is among the best of them. Do your research and compare rates to see if this is really the best choice for you.

We stayed twice, first time in Peninsula tower then in Excelsior tower. Both great, although the triple room booked through Singapore Airlines was much larger than the one we booked ourselves. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in the hotel was OK but nothing special, and very expensive compared to what was available elsewhere. Location is fantastic, just a short walk to Clarke Quay and Raffles City Shopping Mall. The pool is fantastic

Room Tip: Corner rooms are spacious

We stayed at the Peninsula Excelsior Room 2208 for 4 nights on our return home from China. What a pleasure it was to be in a beautifully styled, clean hotel room. Bed was soft and comfortable. Air con that worked. Staff who could speak and understand English. The service provided by Ivy and the team in the Sky Lounge was exceptional. Friendly and always there to help.
The views both day and night were amazing.

This is the hotel we will be staying in on our next trip to Singapore.

Thank you team and we look forward to seeing you all again.

Had 2 night stopover in April 2013, corner room was large with a King sized bed, bathroom was exceptionally small and drain was clogged with gunk so bathtub did not drain very well. We asked if we could have a higher floor (we were on the 8th) and told no unless we paid an additional $60 a night for an upgrade (which would include breakfast and other extras) We asked about Wifi and was told it would cost $5 an hour for access!! (After 6 weeks of travel across Europe this was the first time we had been charged for Wifi, even the B&B's we stayed at had free Wifi.) Overall the room itself was fine but we did not eat here, access the mini bar or use any of its facilities, this hotel takes 'fee for service' to a whole new level where they will charge you for everything!

TIP: DO NOT EAT HERE Instead check out the food stores on the ground floor, you can pick up what ever you want for a fraction of the cost.

For breakfast we picked up fresh fruit, yoghurt and other assortments for less than $10 for two of us. For lunch and dinner go to where the locals eat, it is cheap $4-$5 per plate for a main, excellent quality and tasty. Drinks cost between $1.00 for water to $5 for a pint bottle of beer.

The hotel is in a good location and it is easy to access the public transport system as well as the tourist buses from here.
