i loved this hostel, just a 5 minute walk down the hill to little india and the little india MRT stop it was great, although a short walk up a hill to return i felt the location was great as it was away from the centre but close enough to get to places. You have to take a taxi from the airport or also the MRT if you are feeling adventurous! apart from the snoring (i suggest ear plugs if your sharing) the rooms were lovely, beds made everyday, secure lockers, free internet and a 'veg out' room for chilling with a large tele and free coffee and tea. Also the hostel has a great breakfast and a lovely lovely rooftop terrace with a great view of the skyline all for a reasonable price! definately would return, met some lovely people and had a great 2 night stop over in singapore! thank you :):)

Room Tip: dorms are great if you want to meet new people! although beware of snoring! has no actual pool or gym but has a small bathing area (hard to explain see reviews or website?) on the top floor

Just had to comment on this little treasure as I admit, I had huge reservations before staying here. I normally stay in 4-5 star accom. when in Singapore but as we travelled with a sporting group I booked 3 days with the option to extend another 3 days if I was comfortable.
I did end up booking the last three days as it was extremely clean though basic. We bought our
own soap and toiletries as only bath gel is provided.
The rooms were basic with just a bathroom and bed so be aware that there are no TV's or fridge etc.. but as we were out for most of the day and night this wasn't a problem.
For the price you pay, I'd say this would have to be the best option for a budget stay in Singapore. Aircons worked very well and for me with any stay the 3 things I look for is Cleanliness, good working aircons and comfortable bed! Mt. Emily certainly has two of these!
What made the stay especially enjoyable was the friendly faces and help given by the staff.
Two other things worth mentioning.., not great if you're a fan of the MRT as it's a bit of a walk (especially if youre lugging luggage etc...) but if you're happy to use the Taxis (as I am) then the location is really not a problem.
Another suggestion to the staff is perhaps think about replacing half the beds with softer mattresses.., the beds were extremely uncomfortable for me and I slept on the narrow sofa which was fine to sleep on. If I stayed at Mt. Emily again, I would bring my own matress topper with me. In saying this, others found the beds to be fine so if you love a rock hard bed, it wont be
a problem for you.
Thanks again Mt. Emily for a wonderful stay!

Thank you for taking your time to share your review, kittyDarwinAustralia.

Despite your initial reservations about us, we are thrilled to learn that we met your expectations!

If I have not mistaken you from one of our guest feedback, upon learning that the bed is not soft enough, we have since placed two layers of mattress protector on it and hope it helps to make it more comfortable. We value all our guests feedback and will definitely look into this matter.

Thank you once again and we hope to have you hanging out with us again!

We stayed there recently and it was our third visit. We have always been more than pleased and this time was no exception. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are fine, we stayed on three occasions in a two week spell and all the rooms were excellent. During our absence we left a suitcase in their care. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Breakfast was fine. The facilities were just what you need and we did a bit of washing and drying for a low fee. We even got used to the climb to the hostel (whichever way you get there!). Calling a taxi was child's play, one arrives within five minutes. It is within an easy walking distance of many places you want to go, close to bus stops and and close to Dhoby Ghaut Metro station. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Most have a widow but a few don't.If that's a problem see if they can give you the type you would like. They will if they can.

The Staff - especially 'Cass'. Always going out their way to provide you with a quality (but budget) service. For every question, silly or sensible, there was a helpful answer.
The Room - was perfect. As a couple travelling on budget the room was more than acceptable. A double room with en suite, bath and shower towels available along with shower gel and adequate room to stow your backpack.
The Rate - book in advance! Upon arriving we saw the room rates. One night was triple what we paid for three.
Facilities - brilliant. No exaggeration. Breakfast was available every room with a cooked and non-cooked option. There was also a restuarant, and although we didn't eat there it looked very nice. The 'veg out' is a chilled area with hot drinks, a pool table, reading and movie areas, outside seating and free wifi (which is also available in your room!).
Rooftop seating, bar and pool (ish - very small) area - stunning. Especially at night time where you can look over the illuminated city.
Location - probably what made the trip. 10minute walk into the buzzing town where there are plenty of places to eat, markets and club areas (altough we didn't go in these). 30minute walk to the harbour front (STUNNING - especially at night time too) 30/40minute walk to orchard street where some serious shopping can be done. Little India and Chinatown are also within walking distance. If you are not a keen walker however, the busand tram service are easilt accessable, along with taxi's which are very cheap!!

All in all. Couldn't ask for more. Lovely Hostel, lovely staff and lovely City.

DO NOT MISS THE ZOO EITHER!!!!!!
