I enjoyed my stay at Perak Hotel. The room is clean and staffs are courteous. There is also free wi fi in the hotel. It gives value for money. Things to improve maybe only the breakfast food. Will come back again.

When checking-in, I asked for a queen size bed and a room with windows. The manager remarked that I was ineligible for either because I had booked thru Hotel.com, but would nevertheless receive a superior room because we were staying 3 nights. We did get the "superior" room with a window, but it was spartan and the toilet was dismal.

The hotel was probably a row of shophouses, renovated with some style, retaining the wood floors, the slatted wooden windows, and the wooden staircase. These features do add some old world charm. But the small toilet in my room (306) has not seen renovations; the glass panels in the shower stall were difficult to move, and the commode and cistren were reminded me of the 1960s.

The great advantage of Perak Hotel is that it sits on the edge of Little India, with all the cuisine, shopping and people watching only a few minutes away. Perak Street is rather quiet, although the sound of thumping Indian music from a nearby bar could be heard till midnight.

The staff was friendly and full of advice. The breakfast was adequate, although they could have done better with the great Indian cuisine available nearby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window.

We booked this hotel based on tripadvisor comments. It did not disappoint, Great location in little India. Room was on the small side but clean and well maintained. The other plus was the very helpful and happy staff who went the extra mile. We arrived from a midnight plane flight from India and were able to get a room at 8am. Easy walk to MRT and Bugis shopping. We will stay here again.

Personally for me there are better value for $ hotel in Singapore but if you enjoy staying in a restored shop house, small room space & noisy environment then this place shouldn't bother you. Breakfast menu is so simple that I didn't bother to eat at the hotel but ventured out to Little India for delicious vegetarian breakfast meals. The room is small even by Singapore standards but the only saving grace of the hotel is the ever friendly staff especially the front desk

Room Tip: If you want to try & avoid the noise then try to book the rooms at 3rd floor but please take not...

The Perak Hotel has plenty of character being a restored shop house with polished timber floors and furniture. The staff were very welcoming and helped with our luggage, we were on the third floor and there is no lift. The room was not large but comes with a desk and chair. The bed was quite hard but we have found that this is quite common in Asia. Breakfast was very basic but adequate with a daily complimentary special. The hotel is conveniently located three blocks from Serangoon Road, one of the main Little India thoroughfares, and midway between the Bugis and Little India MRT stations. These two stations provide access to much of the MRT network without having to make too many changes. We were in Singapore for the Hindu Festival of Lights (Deepavali) so Serangoon Road in particular was a riot of colour. Many Indian restaurants in easy walk. Can recommend the Banana Leaf Apollo. Good value for Singapore.

Room Tip: If you have large amounts of luggage or have problems with stairs suggest you avoid 2nd and 3rd floo...

I stayed at this hotel with a friend in a twin-bed room for 4 nights in December. The hotel is located about 10 min walk from the closest MRT (subway) station - Little India, from where you can get to the Marina Bay Sands and other major locations in Singapore relatively quickly. The neighbourhood itself is uniquely Indian, with lots of street shops and restaurants crammed alongside the narrow roads, which can get crowded especially at night time.

The hotel room itself comes with the standard amenities (no ironing board though) but the fixtures are aged and the floor does get creaky especially at night time when the person staying above you comes back at 3 am. Wireless coverage is generally not available in rooms, and the Ethernet cable provided by the front desk also failed to work. No lift at the hotel but the staff did offer to take my luggage up the stairs.

The services and attitude of the staff at this hotel are simply outstanding. They're very good with answering questions, directions and are very accommodating. Overall I think this is a hotel is of good value and a great place to stay if you like to spend your days (and perhaps night) exploring Singapore.

Room Tip: Choose a room closer to the reception so you may pick up wireless coverage from your room.

Perak Hotel - just lovely, good location, nice clean and airy rooms and bathroom. Request upper floors with window as ground floor might be a bit noisy. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included in price, but not very good - just adequate, nice to have inhouse rather than go looking as most eateries in area did not get going until about 10am. Close to two MRT stations and colourful area at night with numerous places to eat. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Request rooms on upper floors and window.
