“Great location for financial district”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2014 via mobile

A new hotel in the financial district, which is great if you are here for work, but not so great for tourists. There are quite a few food options nearby but it's a short walk to the mrt. You can walk to marina bay in about 20 mins but it's not pleasant in the humidity !
The rooms are nice, modern and light but the bathroom design is terrible as the shower doors leak thus flooding the bathroom floor.
Beds are typically Westin and very comfortable.
The executive lounge is excellent with great Westin service.
They don't really do late service in the reception bar - however they were able to 'think out of the box' and provide us and some friends with room service wine and cheese served in the bar one evening after we returned late from dinner.

Wanted to try the Cook and Brew bar/resto at Westin but the waiter wouldn't let us sit at an empty table because he said that section was closed, meanwhile people were sitting at 3 other tables in the same area. Horrible service that I'm used to seeing at average local restaurants but I was shocked to have this crap service at a Westin!! Won't be coming back!!

Stayed here for a few nights on a stopover before proceeding to Bali. Hotel is new and located on the top floors of Tower II Asia Square. Rooms are surprisingly spacious and well laid out to accommodate privacy and stellar views throughout . It was a bit of solitude amid the bustling city. Conveniently located in the heart of the financial district and a short walk to the downtown metro station and walking distance to great cafés and bars including Ann Siang Hill. Only disappointment was hotel gym which was relatively small for such a grand hotel in the financial district.

I stayed at this hotel because I had to be in Singapore for a couple of days and, for some reason, nothing else was available when I was visiting. Sometimes the best experiences are not planned in detail in advance - this was one of them.

Very large and comfortable room on a high floor. Most rooms seem to be above floor 30 because there is no ground level reception - you will have to take the lift to checkin. Everything in the reception area is huge and spacious. In general everything seemed to be new and it is obvious that a lot of effort has gone into design.

I regret not plotting in an extra day for R&R while I had this room because my schedule did not allow me to check out the gym or the pool area at all (I hear that should be fantastic as well).

Because of the location of the hotel, I had a very nice harbour view ... (I also had a taxi driver that apparently never heard about this hotel or Asia Square Tower at all, so bring a map if you take a walk)

I must say that although this hotel is one of the more expensive options in Singapore, it is worth every penny... especially if you are on a business trip.

We are delighted to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you will be able to experience the gym, as well as the pool the next time you stay with us again. With the opening of the new Downtown MRT Station, the traffic flow for this area has increased and definitely the taxi drivers are becoming more familiar with our hotel location and the surrounding area. Thank you for sharing with us your feedback and we certainly look forward to welcoming you back in the near future!

Read good reviews and wanted to have a meal at Seasonal Tastes and so we went for the buffet on Sat. Lovely hotel, good service at the lobby, lovely view from the 32nd floor. But I thought the buffet was a little sad. The Japanese rice (which held the sushi) and the cheese platter seemed to have been left out longer than in should. No prizes for the Indian food, not many people liked it and I love Indian food! and the cold meat was uninteresting. And btw, I think the guy doing the pasta needs a little expertise in his skills. For this hotel, I think a little quality at this restaurant would go a long way. Still, a beautiful hotel.

The new Westin reflects the direction Singapore is moving in, and not just vertically. A modern business hotel at the edge of downtown, it is within walking distance of Marina Bay. In Tower II of Asia Square, it is a glass façade so beloved of the region. It not only offers views of the sea looking south, but also of parts of Marina Bay and even Chinatown just north of it from the other side. You can presently see the container port, though that is shifting west soon. The upcoming docks and projects have just started, and should offer more views when done. Incidentally, in another reflection of modern floor planning, the hotel begins from the 32nd floor onwards, and up to 46. There is a welcome lobby on the ground floor, as also a coffee bar, but the rest of the hotel is high above the ground. Bright, naturally lit lobbies are welcoming, both at the ground and 32nd floors. Note the brown – blue sofa combos, really nice, as were the chandeliers.

Check was okay. My room faced the interior of the city, though of course it was largely similar glass buildings. The rooms are spacious, and have a nice aesthetic touch to them. The colour scheme is beige. The bed was comfortable – and note that this the much publicized Heavenly Rollaway Bed! I stayed firmly ensconced for as long as I had time for! A comfortable work desk with adequate plug points, ipod docking station, and 42” TV meant could you convert this to your temporary office! Good spacious closet, standard safe, bed slippers, hair dryer, bath robes, ironing table, laundry service – all good. Complimentary water, tea maker, mini lounge – all well stocked. The washroom is huge, and easily the most spectacular statement comes from the huge, deep, white bath – perched right next to a floor to ceiling window! Needless to add, the view will hold you for a while, and given that this is clear glass, you may wonder if others can see you!

There is an outdoor pool, and an infinity one. Plunge right in, or use the sun deck – as your heart desires. There is an adjacent gym too.

The restaurants are lovely and looked quite popular among Singaporeans in the evening. The all day diner, Seasonal Tastes offers buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tried breakfast and lunch, both had extensive variety – offering local, Chinese, Indian and continental options, with a smattering of sushi. Huge dessert options too. Cook & Brew, the restaurant, bar on the level above is excellent too, and comes with multiple sections, different seating types, including comfy leather couches and outdoors for smokers. There is a deli on level 1, which has some nice stuff.

Internet is free only in the lobby. The room rate is quite high, but nothing out of the usual for Singapore. There are meeting / banqueting spaces too, in keeping with the hotel’s business focus.

While you take out time to admire the views from different angles, do note the detailing inside too. The chairs in the banqueting rooms for example use local tech for better ergonomics. Carpets come in different designs, especially note the grey arrow pointed out in the upper lobby. A book shelf design on stained glass in interesting, though actual books would have been better! Red butterfly lamps on walls look a little plastic.

A slightly off putting part is that you have to change lifts to get to your room as the first one takes you from level 1 to 32. You have to exit and take the next set to go wherever your room is!

Room Tip: Choose your view, everything else is standard!

My husband and I did a long weekend (Friday - Monday) in Singapore. As SPG members, we do have a certain level of expectation when staying at a Starwood Hotel, and The Westin met those expectations.

We found the hotel to be in a good location, close to the MRT station, walking distance to Chinatown and Marina Bay and more. When we needed a taxi, the staff members were prompt to assist. Service at all levels was good - from check-in, to the bar, to the restaurants and even upon check-out. We had a later flight and the hotel stored our luggage, and allowed us to shower and change prior to departure - I just wish we had visited the spa area sooner (so lovely!).

The room itself was very modern and met all our needs; the bed was insanely comfortable the bathroom was great (despite the lack of outlets for hairdryers) and the view from the bathtub was stellar. I especially liked that though glass, the toilet area did have a door that could close. My husband loved the shower!
