Yes, it's touristy and I saw the queue to get into the Long Bar,almost gave up on it but I had personal reasons for wanting to have a Singapore Sling at it's origin. The queue moved surprisingly quickly and in no time we were seated at the bar. I'd forgotten how delicious the Sling was and could have easily downed several. Linn checked on us several times and had us laughing with her stories. They let us crank the cocktail shaker too! Wish we could have had more time here. Thanks Linn!!

Don’t miss the Singapore Sling and all the peanuts. Nice bar, the drink was the best! 35 dollars. But a must in Singapore. Be ready to wait before you get in.

We were blown away by the exterior of The Raffles Hotel, so lovely, made our way upstairs to the Long Bar and were seated immediately. The tables were close together with hessian sacks of monkey nuts on the tables and the empty shells crushing under our feet. Drinks menu eventually arrived, eye watering prices, however we said you only do it once, so bit the bullet and ordered two Singapore slings. Two drinks worked out at £51 - imagine how disappointed we were to see these being made in batches of six at a time. Tasted poor and a bit like pop - very little alcohol and felt well and truly ripped off. When we left there was a huge queue, it really is like the story The Emperors New Clothes, and we fell for it.

Don’t let the killjoys stop you from enjoying the experience. The Singapore Sling is worth the wait and the atmosphere in the place will stay with me for a loong time.
The air conditioning and music is fabulous
The nuts taste great.

A friend recommended stopping into the famous Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel which was built in the colonial period. The decor is inviting and service prompt. We tried the alcoholic and non alcoholic (teetotaler) version of the Singapore Sling the drink that was invented here in the early 1900s. I actually liked the non alcoholic drink best. There is a queue to get in but we figured it is a place we didn’t want to miss and hey we’re on vacation!
