Its quite far from main area. Nothing much to explore. Good to go for one time only, specially for students.
They show good movies.

“Ok for locals, can't say the same for non-locals”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Visited with the family as part of a small school project for my son. Didn't really know what to expect but we decided to make the best of it. Bought a combined ticket that gave us entry, a short bus tour of SAFTI (military officers' traning institute) and a movie.

It's probably pretty obvious to most Singaporeans that this Centre was intended to instill pride in being Singaporeans in a subtle yet enjoyable way. Interesting concepts, designs and facts were presented but I couldn't help feeling a little stifled after a while. To a non-local, I can imagine it wouldn't necessarily be easy to understand or appreciate. The bus tour around SAFTI brought back memories, some good, some not so good.

But there were a few things that did concern me. Firstly, this place is so out there it's just not easy to get to. And I kept wondering why the movie was even part of the combination ticket when it usually had absolutely nothing to do with the exhibition - just another way to increase revenue?

“Waste of time...”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

What a waste of time; this place is terrible. You're allocated a tour guide who walks you from one display to the next (for a bit) and then leaves you. No new information (if you've visited - for example - the National Museum). Cheesy videos / 'arcade'-type games. Long way out of town. Asked staff to get a taxi back to town, this was impossible. Eventually someone that worked there offered to call a (taxi driver) friend, who would return us to town for $ 45!!! Eventually, after sitting roadside in the heat for a while, we managed to flag down a cab who got us back to Chinatown for $ 18 (on the meter, of course).

“worthwhile weekend trip”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

2 movies + bus tour + 2 museums all these for only 12-15sgd , and most important is it will re invigorate your patriotism to Singapore! Majula!

Hope that they can continually update their exhibits, and if possible move their location somewhere near the city.

“all about Singapore”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

The Discovery Centre is all about Singapore, it is not easy to find from the Joo Koon MRT station and we did find it a bit boring. It is all about educating you about Singapore. The 3D cinema is what you expect from a 3D cinema. Wouldn't recommend to go out of your way to make the journey, especially if you are on holiday and staying east.
