If you are interested in the maritime history of Singapore then this is the place to see. If you go thru every section in detail then you need about 2 hours. The gallery guides would cover the main materials quite quickly but you can review every section after that. There's a hands-on section for children where they can play with the exhibits.
Very informative about Singapore's maritime history and the maritime industry in Singapore. The exhibits are attractive. There's a simulator to learn navigation and controlling a ship.
The Gallery is in the Marina South Pier, which is also the pier for ferry boats to the southern islands of Singapore (Kusu, St John's, etc). There's a Riverboat Restaurant berthed at the pier as well as Chinese Junk for meals at sea. Thus the car parking is always full so be prepared to wait for parking space if you are driving there. The 402 bus service is infrequent but will stop at the pier. You can board 402 bus from Marina Bay MRT station.
