Owner description: River Safari is Asia's first and only river-themed wildlife park inspired by the world's most iconic rivers. Witness some of the biggest, most endangered animals from these rivers, in lofty tanks and luscious walk-through exhibits! A must-see are giant pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia in Southeast Asia's largest giant panda exhibit. Plus the world's largest freshwater aquarium themed after the Flooded Amazon Forest! The River is Calling...

A well-designed route which leads to an educational & enriching experience.

Although the pandas Jia Jia & Kai Kai were the main attraction, most of the other exhibits are

Take note of the bridge linking the 2 sides over a body of water. On one end there is a "colony" of storks. Ever so often, a stork or two would take flight & perch themselves on the top of small trees at the other side.
The small trees are near to the visitors.
It is quite easy to capture the flapping of the stork's wings - quite a rare moment of nature.

Tip: The queue for the boat ride is a rather long one. Advisable to purchase beforehand rather than do so at the premises.

The exhibits/enclosures are designed such that you can be very up close & personal with the animals, eg red panda, spider monkey.

The trained staff also do bring out some exhibits (bearded dragon, American hedgehog, etc) & allow visitors to have physical interaction, eg pat & stroke them.

There are many informational storyboards to educate the visitors.

We enjoyed the attraction very much.

Half a day is just about sufficient to cover the place.

Thank Chris K

Nice place to see marine life up close. The gigantic glass tank above the walk through tunnel enhanced the experience. And they have 2 red panda and 2 black and white pandas. Stay for their feeding time if you can, they are so adorable.

We went after the zoo around 4.30 midweek so got plenty of good panda photos minus crowds :) the ride is not that long so u can wait for each other if u have a baby since little ones cannot go on the ride.

We went to River Safari on the 15th June, which was a bit rainy and your typical garden-variety hot humid Singapore day. The exhibits are very interesting, combining an aquarium and a land zoo into one cohesive location. It's a bit crowded, but nothing surprising considering how popular the place is. Going to this particular part of the Singapore Zoo triad with infants/toddlers is a bit difficult, since the Amazon River Quest boat ride (which makes up a large chunk of the park) has a 1.06m height restriction. Unless you want to leave your child alone, it is a great idea to have someone who is willing to wait for the rest of your group and keep him/her company. This leads to the fact that we were drenched due to a massive downpour during the boat ride. A tarp "roof" to cover the boat during the rain was much desired, as umbrellas are not allowed (presumably so the animals are not harmed). If you want to go on the boat ride, you should book the boat ride about an hour to 90 mins after the time you enter the park. This gives you plenty of time at the aquariums and the panda exhibits that you will encounter en route to the River Quest entrance. The panda conservatory is very nice and air-conditioned, at the very least. The panda was sleeping in a corner and people, including us, were crowding to photograph it.
Once back outside of the panda room you will cross a long bridge which offers a stunning view of the real natural Singapore. It is sad Singapore is building so many artificial "natural" areas when the country itself has amazing natural beauty.
After the boat ride, you will visit a squirrel monkey "forest" and another aquarium called the Amazon Flooded Forest, probably the best part of the trip. A large group of at least 10 giant manatees were in the aquarium. It was their feeding time, and pans full of heads of lettuce were thrown into the aquarium, and they were all fighting to get a share; definitely a pleasant surprise to see.

The river safari is great for an "add on" to the zoo. Total time to see everything is only about 2 hrs to 2 1/2hrs. The walk is on a set path way and leads to the one "ride".....The aquariums along the path are well set out and very interesting.
BUT the ride is not that exciting. The boat takes you past several enclosures, but it's hard to see some animals and even harder to get pics as the boat doesn't stop....
The best part is the huge aquarium at the end... full of incredible species including about 10 MANITEES.... they are beautiful and wonderful to watch in the water.
Along the way there are opportunities for closeups with certain animals and even touch a few...so watch out for the keepers walking around with black microphone bags.
Only one restaurant and a few expensive drink stations... so best to take your own drinks.
