Owner description: River Safari is Asia's first and only river-themed wildlife park inspired by the world's most iconic rivers. Witness some of the biggest, most endangered animals from these rivers, in lofty tanks and luscious walk-through exhibits! A must-see are giant pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia in Southeast Asia's largest giant panda exhibit. Plus the world's largest freshwater aquarium themed after the Flooded Amazon Forest! The River is Calling...

The River Safari is a river themed zoo located in Singapore and is just next to the Singapore Zoo and the night safari. It comprises of mainly freshwater attraction and of course, the highlight which is the giant panda forest.

It was a pleasant outing for me. However, i didn't find the place fantastic. I felt that the giant panda forest was pretty similar to the Giant Panda Adventure which i saw in Hong Kong Ocean Park. The pandas were cute but if you are talking about value for money, you definedly have lots more to do and see in HK Ocean Park.

My comments ... just alright!

The only reason this attraction does'nt get 5/5 is the fact that the amazon river part was still not open, which we were aware of prior to our visit though. The walk around is beautiful and everything is build to high standards; seeing the pandas was a lot of fun as well as walking around with free-ranging monkeys in one area.

The River Safari is the Zoo's latest attraction, and it is located next to the Zoo and the night safari. Don't make a special trip just to visit the River Safari, as it is only 80% complete. The boat ride will only be complete after July 2013 (estimated).

However, if you get the Park Hopper, visiting all 3 parks in a day will be worth your money, and the trip out of the main city area. This is the only place outside of China, yet in Asia, which gives you an opportunity to see the famous China Pandas. Head to the River Safari at 930am or 230pm for Free guided tours. It does not bring you to all the exhibits, but it is comprehensive enough considering it is FREE

Another exhibit I loved is the Flooded Amazon Forest. 6 months of the year, the Amazon is flooded. The Zoo replicates this eco system, as you will see the forest submerged and interactiing with marine life. My kids enjoyed it

After the pleasant and interesting experience that was the Night Safari, I looked forward to seeing the newest attraction in the Zoo cluster. Unfortunately, it turned out to be deeply under-whelming and an outright disappointment. The attraction is only half completed and, while the concept may prove to be successful in the future, at present it consists of a few riverine creatures shifted over from the neighboring zoo and an awful lot of signage displaying information I could have sourced at home, in comfort. Far too many of the enclosures and tanks bear photographs and a strap banner saying "coming soon"! The entrance fee is currently discounted because of the incomplete nature of the attraction, but is exorbitant considering the paltry offerings. The marketing and advertising of this so-called attraction is misleading, bordering on duplicity, and does Singapore no credit. At present, I strongly recommend that it is avoided. Take a slow stroll through the Botanical Gardens - it is far more rewarding and won't cost you a cent.

We bought park hopper specials which cost S$39 per person for Zoo and River Safari. You get to see Red Panda, Panda and a lot more interesting animals. At the end of the walk there is a big big aquarium where you can sit back and relax while watching Manatee swim.
