Description: Opened in November 2012, The Halia at Raffles Hotel is the latest and third addition to The Halia group of restaurants in Southeast Asia. The 100-seater restaurant, housed in the premises of the former Seah Street Deli, is an inviting space with lush planted foliage complemented by wood-carved tables and daylight streaming in through classic French windows. The restaurant prides itself on a refreshing concept which encourages flexibility and communal dining, with dishes classified under "large plates" or "little plates" instead of the usual "appetizers" and "mains". It also boasts an al fresco bar, which serves up its signature Singapore Sling by Hendrick's.

. The crab chili spaghettini was delicious, and wish we had the time to return. Ambiance is wonderful. Raiana is a gem and contributes to the spark this restaurant has. The menu makes decisions hard and we believe excellent value For money. A most enjoyable evening just sorry we found it towards the end of our stay.
A complimentary photo was taken, unexpected but added a special touch to the evening.

“Halia, what a lovely evening”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

We had a lovely early dinner at Halia for my partner's birthday, a 6pm sitting (we have a 10 month old) was perfect timing before it got too busy in the evening. Food was excellent in taste and presentation, and for Singapore very reasonably priced. The a la carte menu was available however we opted for the pre-theatre dinner menu (available up until 7pm). I chose the goat's cheese entrée followed by a grilled chicken dish, very tasty, partner's choice was the soup of the day and signature chilli crab linguine. We weren't disappointed by the meal including our desert. The service was excellent and we didn't feel out of place with our baby who was given lots of attention by very attentive staff, we look forward to a grown up late dinner next time in a busy, well presented and decorated restaurant. Our only disappointment in the restaurant was the wine choice, although it had a good wine menu, our first two choices for a reasonably priced bottle of red weren't available so we ended with something a little more expensive than we would have liked to spend, although what we did have was very good and complimented our meal nicely. My only other gripe was the baby change facilities, I was directed to a wooden change table in the hallway of the public toilets, in open view of everyone walking past, not ideal at all. I don't expect Raffles Hotel to turn itself into a baby friendly fun park but somewhere clean, private and comfortable to change baby after a meal would be great. Halia is highly recommended and we'll definitely be going back.

“Nice food, but may be undeserving of number 1 in Singapore”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

We visited the Halia at Raffles Hotel on our first night in Singapore with high expectations after reading rave reviews on TripAdvisor. We went on a quiet Sunday evening and there were only a few other patrons in the restaurant.

The dining room was set nicely and the staff were very helpful and attentive. We ordered the Wagyu beef carpaccio, deep fried squid and the pulled duck. The food was very nice but the portions were sparse for the money. We are aware that it was fine dining but it really wasn't up to scratch with other restaurants of this nature that we have visited. There was an overwhelming saltiness to all the dishes - maybe overseasoning with coarse ground salt.

The chilled strawberry soup for dessert was nice, but just didn't really blow us away like we were hoping.

Overall, a nice evening but underwhelming.

“very good”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Went twice in one week. Food excellent, service perfect at first visit, not quite so good second time, but by way of apology the glass of wine for which we had a long wait was not charged for. And all the staff are very pleasant. Would go back.

“Highs and OKs”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

My wife and I ventured to this newly opened (Nov 2012), second location of Halia in Singapore. Celeriac lasagna was absolutely outstanding (we've tried to replicate this dish at home and still working on it). The crab chili spaghettini and java spiced rack of lamb were good but not noteworthy. Ambiance was average – no table linen, plain block tables. Started with a Singapore Sling - delightful! Not a destination or special occasion locale …best for casual dining if you want to check out the Raffles Hotel.
