“Brunch”

Good selection. Good location. Perfect for Sunday outing with family or even dinner for 2. The choice of mains are quite value for money, even the portion is acceptable.

“The view is good, wish something else was too”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

Went last Sunday for a brunch with friends. Still wondering what hit us.
The food was quite limited in terms of taste, preparation and appeal. For the amount charged, the quality left a lot to be desired. Bland food is not continental food!!!!!!
The service can improve by leaps and bounds. Sometimes it's not the number of people who are around but what they do, that matters
The buffet reminded me of a seedy motel in the Midwestern US, lots of items but none worth it.
All, however is not lost. A turnaround can happen if
- the cooking staff actually ask patrons what they want and how
- the service staff smiles and pays attention to the patrons inside than the monkeys outside
- reduce the spread on the buffet but make it better.

Am not tempted to go back again to the restaurant. Don't mind the benches outside to admire the view, which is magnificent.

“Paying for flies infested food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

We paid $45++ per pax for a weekend buffet lunch there, and I'll never return for the value we've received. There are only 6 dishes to choose from the spread, 2 types of fruit juice, which the waiter did not even let us know about. The 6 dishes are mediocre and frankly not even worth $20/pax. Laksa is indecent, I can easily get better ones from the foodcourt.

Further, I would never have expected to pay such money for flies infested desserts. The dessert table was left in the open, and because the restaurant is in the nature reserve, flies and ants were feasting on the spread. When asked for the waiters to do something about it, they can only tell me that they can't do anything about it. How about not leaving them in the open? I suppose they can at least use some initiatives?

A place that is totally not worth paying for. Maybe just for a drink or 2, giving credits to their ambience.

“Nice way to finish a walk”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

After a lovely walk in the beautiful McRitchie Reservoir, my friends and I decided to finish the morning with brunch at Lava Edge. The restaurant is set on a hill overlooking the reservoir and forest. The meal consisted of a breakfast style meal accompanied by unlimited buffet, which included cereals, fruits, juices, breads, croissants, desserts and coffee. We enjoyed the meal and the prices were very reasonable.

“Not bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

Location must be great but it was dark and wet. Perhaps an afternoon would have been better.
Staff was okay and reasonably attentive. Wanted a little more on the plate ... Presentation was good if that is what you are looking for but not a place to go if you want to "eat a horse".
