Description: Celebrating Neighbourhoods There’s always that special place in the areas we live.By habit or necessity, there are checkpoints where our paths converge, no matter where our days take us. These are the places where shared moments and experiences connect us – and they eventually come to mean far more than the function it serves. A café doesn’t merely dispense coffee. Neither does a bakery simply cook flour and put them on sale. They are strongholds founded deep in the history of the area it dwells, built upon with stories shared within and around its walls. Where perspectives are challenged, broadened, renewed; and the future can be boldly envisioned with insight and belief. Where friends are made, dreams are shared, and love is found. This unique confluence of the community drives us to excellence and new levels of inspiration in everything we do. We are dedicated to celebrating the individuals, embracing the stories and transforming the living space for people around us. We are dedicated to celebrating neighbourhoods.

“Must get: Kouign Amann”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

I have yet to have the chance to dine in at Tiong Bahru Bakery. All of my visits entailed me buying a few pieces of Kouign Amann for takeaway! It is soooo soooo good. Crispy rounded pastry, layered with butter and sugar. I prefer the original flavour to the strawberry one, and to me, these taste much better than the hyped-about croissants they sell. Don't leave without having a taste of it!

“Best croissants in Singapore!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

Best croissants with a flaky flavorful crust & soft inside texture! Also best to try is their kouignaman, its a bread somewhat like cinnamon roll but with a crunchy crust with caramelized sugar & salted butter. My diet ends here!

“A taste of France in Singapore”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

What luck to be able to have such a great bakery in Singapore. Usually croissants are not flaky here and baking in this humidity is a challenge. Not so for this great outpost of celebrity French baker Cherrier. The place is packed on Sundays, but definitely worth the wait! Don't expect outstanding service, just amazing bread and viennoiseries.

“Raffles City branch service really bad”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We've heard good things about this bakery and decided to try.

We ordered a quiche and it came very burnt (partially black). We mentioned it to the staff who gave us a dirty look, but then the manager seem more apologetic and told the staff to go change it. The same staff came back with a new slice and slammed it on our table. Then proceed to a nearby table to fawn at an old Swedish couple when they were totally fine. Actually the old Swedish couple got so much attention from said staff that they told her not to bother them, because it's their last meal in Singapore and they just want to enjoy themselves.

I get the sense that this branch wasn't operationally ready in that they were using a lot of young people who looked like they were not trained for the job (nor do they want the job). What a waste because we really wanted to like the experience.

Decor wise it was impeccable.

“Great coffee, tasty pastries, nice vibe”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Coffee is great—they use forty hands beans—and the patries are excellent. The vibe was also quite nice, but slightly congested with a poorly-planned layout.
