Tiong Bahru Public Housing Estate in Singapore

The rooftop of Singapore's tallest subsidised housing estate provides a perfect vantage point to enjoy the city skyline. Costing only S$5.00 per person, it is far, far cheaper than other alternatives such as One Altitude (a rooftop bar in the CBD) or Marina Bay Sands. It still, however, stand out and affords a great view and stroll. Note that there is a daily maximum quota as to how many visitors are allowed per day, but barring any special holidays or events that quota is hardly ever reached.

Nearest MRT station is Tanjong Pagar, and you need an ez-link travel card in order to purchase a ticket. Finding the ticket machine can be, however, rather tricky. Check the official website for details, and make sure your ez-link has sufficient value as the next nearest place to top it up (which is probably the MRT station itself) is at least 5 minutes' walk away. Sunset is the best time to visit, as you also get to avoid the glaring heat. Note that there is no straightforward wheelchair access, although arrangements should be able to be made in advance if you call ahead.

Although slightly shorter than the much-vaunted Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck (on the 57th floor), and certainly no where near as chic given that this is a public housing project, the PInnacle@Duxton's 50th storey skybridge is still a good alternative to its glamorous cousin's skypark.

It is also cheaper, at S$5 per entry, compared to S$20 at the Marina Bay Sands. The main drawback however would be the cumbersome method for payment of the entrance fee - you need a local stored value payments card called an EZ-Link card. You can purchase a card however best to borrow one from a local.

You can read the post on my blog about how to gain entry to the skybridge, the architecture of the award-winning building, as well as a brief overview of Singapore's public housing.

From this building, am able to view the beautiful scenery of Singapore town. Fireworks can be seen during some local festivals. Come over and enjoy another spectrum of the Singapore view.

To reach there, head to Tanjong Pagar MRT station, exit the station and look up and around and you can spot the building IMMEDIATELY, is essentially a residential complex with 5 skyscrapers topped with a skypark that stands out from the 2 to 3-storey shop-houses around.

To get Up there, Please GET YOU EZ-LINK Card ready as thats the only method to pay

Wt to see up there?
Sorry you cant see the marina bay there as it's blocked by the fantastic view of skyscrapers in Singapore CBD. Walk around the skypark and you could see the city in 360 degrees, from the skyscrapers in its CBD raffles place, to vast area of residential buildings, container terminal and sentosa island towards the South and even Malaysia beyond the border.

Best time to get up there?
guess around 6.30 pm and stay until 7.30 or 8pm to watch the sunset and witness the magical transformation of the view from day to night as the lights are gradually turned on.

Wt to do afterwards?
Tanjong Pagar is home to lots of quality Korean and Western restaurants, China Town is just within walking distance and the alleys there are lined with great pubs and bars for one to chill out with friends!

This is one of the cheaper observation decks in Singapore, if you are a first time visitor or haven't been to the Marina Bay Sands Sky Park I would not recommend coming here, but if you prefer to view the city from a different angle this is definitely a second option.
