“A must do for High tea lovers”
Reviewed August 23, 2014 via mobile

Raffles High tea-a must do whilst in Singapore. The hotel is stunning & the tiffin room beautiful. The service was excellent & my daughters aged 6 & 9 loved their own pot of hot chocolate. We got a 3 tier stand & were told we could get top ups at any time. I did ask for more sandwiches which came out promptly. There is also a buffet at which you can get unlimited scones, cakes & fruit as well as savoury options. While the food was nice, it wasn't as high quality as other high teas I've been too. No tea menu either-just one type. The French champagne was an additional cost & I knew this from previous reviews. A lovely afternoon out.

“A mystifying (but enjoyable) experience”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

Having high tea at Raffles is one of those ‘must do’ things if you are in Singapore. Whilst we enjoyed the experience, we felt it was rather highly priced, although you do get a lot of food for your money (but consequently need a large appetite to get value out of the occasion). In fact, although we were staying at the hotel, we found little information about high tea (including the cost) and what to expect. There was no mention of what was included and what were extras. We weren’t sure if the champagne offered on arrival was included (which luckily we declined), nor did we know if we were entitled to help ourselves to the buffet as well as to the food brought directly to our table, but we did so anyway. If it hadn’t all been such a mystery, I think we would have enjoyed it more. We did appreciate the beautiful harp music though.

Mid afternoon tea at Raffles - impressed by the staff and the ambiance of the place. The food was okay - not something I'd write home about though. Just a tip for men - although we had emailed to ask about men's attire and told dress shorts were ok, one of our group had to wear a borrowed pair of pants as the info we were given was NOT correct. The Singapore Slings at the downstairs bar were $$$$$ - can get cheaper elsewhere and one sling tastes like another! Glad I went - would I go again - probably not.

“Anniversary treat”
Reviewed August 1, 2014 via mobile

We booked night afternoon tea as part of an afternoon tour. We were a couple celebrating our wedding anniversary but obviously the tiffin room was overbooked so we got put on a table with a couple on their honeymoon. We both said we wanted a table for 2 but were still told we had a table for 4.(The couple were lovely but that was beside the point). The hotel should realise that for many people a trip to raffles is a one off experience to be savoured. It felt very much like a conveyor belt. The food is lovely, the atmosphere rather like an upmarket cafe. It is overpriced and all to rushed. We had tea in the Ritz in London an altogether more special occasion - with a choice of teas - beautiful cakes and sandwiches, no coming and going throughout, there are whole sittings there. Raffles was nothing special, a disappointment.

“Overrated. Had better. Online booking a mess. ”
Reviewed July 28, 2014 via mobile

Pros: fairly well priced. Came to around £35 pound sterling per person. Lovely setting with harp music playing in Tiffin Room. Waiters/waitresses very polite, service is impeccable. Get to walk around certain parts of the hotel as well. We were celebrating someone's birthday and they kindly brought out a cake.

Cons: overrated in general. Having had High Tea in London, this doesn't really compete well. You get one stand of cakes/sandwiches first but thereafter it is buffet and you have to help yourself which is a bit of a let down. Sandwiches are nothing amazing, if anything a bit dry.

IMPORTANT: booking online is a complete mess. We booked online and received the email confirmation, this was for a party of 9. But when we turned up they said we had booked lunch, not high tea. The website and booking confirmation doesn't say whether we had booked lunch or high tea (highly confusing) so either ring up and book or book online and call ahead to check your booking. Poor website in my opinion for not clarifying whether you are booking lunch or high tea. We had to cancel our original booking at 1pm which ended up being lunch and wait for a slot at 4.30pm for high tea.

While we waited the few hours between the incorrect booking and the correct booking, we went to the Long Bar for the usual Singapore Sling and Nuts. Slightly pricey but nice setting so worth doing for the one drink.
