Love the atmosphere, food and drinks @ The Reading Room. Staffs and Owner are very friendly and service are good. Prices are reasonable too. Definitely a good place to hang out with friends and colleagues after work and weekend with family. My husband and i often spent our time there just enjoying good food and relaxing.

If you want to have a little tasty snack with a glass of wine in a relaxed atmosphere, this place is for you. The neighbourhood gives you a lot of options for (more) eating after. Tthe Clan on other side of road a very good one, Esquina even better (more tapas).

My wife and I visited The Reading Room while passing about 2 weeks ago and loved the atmosphere and lay out. The prices are incredibly reasonable and I love the board games and books that are open for you to read.

After our initial visit we decided we'd return for the Valentine's Day dinner which was really fantastic value for money. The staff arranged a box of chocolates and a rose for every table as part of their package. You were greeted by champagne and then given a starter, 3 plates of tapas, a main and a dessert.

All the food that we had was simple, yet delicious. I have been to many restaurants that try to overcomplicate the food and the result is less than stellar. Here, however, the food is pretty honest and they try to bring out the flavour of everything. Their bruschetta is probably the best I've had in Singapore, their mushrooms are absolutely divine. Their spanish tortilla was filling although it was the plate that I enjoyed the least (but still was delicious!). Their beef carpaccio isn't really a carpaccio but rather beef prosciutto but again the flavours were absolutely amazing. The flavour combination of the rocket, onion, apple and beef was fantastic.

The main was a minute steak which was cooked to perfection. The season was just right and the only bit left on our plate was the rind from the steak. Dessert was a tiramisu which is the best I've had in Singapore. You got a lovely strong blend of coffee and brandy with balanced the sweetness of the mascarpone and cheese.

The really impressive thing is the size of the kitchen that produces this food. You will pass it on the way to the restroom and you will be amazed at how they are able to produce really good, honest food in a kitchen the size of a closet.

The staff here are incredibly friendly and we had a fantastic chat with the owner who really made the effort to speak to all the guests and ensure that they were enjoying their night.

What really sets out this bar/restaurant from other places is the decoration. You have some really great vintage stuff like old telephones, typewriters that you can have a play around with. The entire place is covered in books that you can read and if you really do enjoy them you can buy them. Also included is a great selection of board games (including some drinking games!) that you can play. Their happy hour prices are fantastic and they have a great selection of wines and spirits.

Really a fantastic, charming little place and worth visiting if you want a quiet, intimate setting to have a nice conversation with friends or just to enjoy a drink and lose yourself in a book.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review on TRR. And yes, our kitchen is seriously/hilariously small, but our dedication to producing good, honest food is larger than life!!
Thank you so much for liking our minute steak. We are very proud of our minute steaks. Half the battle's done when we do make sure we choose good quality steaks to begin with... And the magical cafe de paris sauce we put on the side? It's a pass down secret recipe from a very renowned chef..... hehee...
Would love to see you again. And thank you again for taking the time to review us.

We came here a few times during the course of our stay in Singapore, twice for drinks only and once for lunch. The sandwiches and antipasti platter hit the spot, staff were attentive and friendly and the beer was just right.... A quirky little place that does everything well!
