“Super korean BBQ”

Super Star K Korean BBQ

Korean BBQ restaurants seem to be the trend in Singapore now. Located at Tanjong Pagar, Superstar K is definitely worth a try for Korean BBQ, as their complementary side dishes are delicious as well as the quality cuts of meat used.

The waiters even grill the meat for you!

Although not as cheap as BBQ buffet like 2D1N, you don't have to queue for hours like buying Hello Kitty either and squeeze with K-pop crazy teens at the buffet table.

Went on a Thur evening and the place was crowded. The waiting system is straightforward. Head to the counter and have your name, mobile phone number listed.

There is a waiting area outside the restaurant. You can either wait outside or linger around until you receive a call about a ready table.

Service was quick and prompt.

Personally preference, the pork neck meat was a better enjoyment than the beef ribs. The pork turned out to be tender and flavorful. Beef was a tad too tough.

With an array of side condiments, the DIY wrapping was fun. Along with fresh greens.

Kimchi soup come along with rice.
Other side dishes were standard.
The steamed egg was raved about. It was soft and piping hot. However lack of another dimension of taste.

It's a good spot for a laid back dinner with chattering friends.

Though the ventilation system is in place. But be prepared to still have the BBQ lingering after dinner.

Worth a visit. But to re-visit, can be subjective. As there are many more Korean restaurants along the stretch of road to be discovered.

Didn't realised that they don't have buffet in this restaurant as i always thought it is a buffet BBQ korean restaurant type. Nonetheless we have ordered some of their famous dishes - seafood pancake, ginseng chicken soup, saba fish, and of course the bibimbap and the spicy chicken, beef and pork. The only minus point is the side dishes or "반찬" it is quite little and not refillable? Even the bottled water given to us are only 3 bottles. we did not know if the 반찬 or water can be refillable as we though they are chargeable. Overall, the food is average, service is presentable, for 4 adults and 2 children, the total cost is nearly SGD$200 is rather expensive.

I have been to the restaurant for at least 10 times in the past year, which says a lot considering the number of Korean restaurants available in Singapore (and down the street of Tanjung Pagar where it is located), but this experience was the worst. I will not be heading back there again.

Food was decent, I still think they have the best spicy BBQ pork around. Was greeted by a really nasty-faced worker, who demanded we order 4 meat items for 6 diners (3 men and 3 women). We attempted to negotiate as we were ordering other things on the menu, we wanted to order only 3 meat items. That was met with a nasty scowl again.

We found out there was no longer any free refill for the side-dishes. Nor the steamed egg. Any request for utensils, additional drinks or even the bill was met with a nasty scowl. Seems to be a uniformed theme of the workers there - maybe they are underpaid.

Our overall bill came up to $180 for 6 pax including drinks. Not pricey but not incredibly cheap either. I would not recommend anyone to head back. Their place was emptier than usual when we were there on Saturday night, I now know why.

Looks like I would now have to take my Korean BBQ craving somewhere else...

When we got there, we looked around and wondered if we were supposed to seat ourselves. Eventually, we did. There was no host, no greeting, nothing.
After we sat down, a guy brought us the menu and they put the charcoal on the hotplate. After we ordered, they brought us 6 side dishes - vegetable, bean sprouts, kimchi, some fish cake-like thing, steamed egg and mash potato salad. The steam egg was especially delicious. We ordered beef brisket slices and spicy chicken. Also a kimchi stew. The stew was tasty and spicy; great to warm the tummy. The beef, eaten with the lettuce is awesome. They also gave a plate with salt and pepper, raw garlic pieces, chili paste and some onion sauce.

They helped us cook the beef and chicken which was nice but we also felt abit rushed to finish our meal. When the chicken was cooking, we were sneezing, our nose started to drip and we were coughing. I suppose it was because of the chili from the spicy chicken. It was bad.

Try the grape juice, it was very refreshing.
The experience overall was different, food not bad and yes, despite what others say, you do leave the restaurant smelling like bbq. Its on your clothes, undergarments, hair, skin, everything! If you drive, leave your bag in the car.

We spent $72 for a portion of beef, a portion of chicken, kimchi stew and one grape juice.
