Description: Dining at Tiffin Room is an essential experience at Raffles Singapore. At lunch and dinner, the curry buffet is a hot favourite both with tourists and locals alike. Expect authentic North Indian specialities, including vegetarian curries for non-meat diners. In the afternoon, the restaurant partakes in a classic English tradition and serves High Tea. Delicate morsels are arranged on a tiered tea cosy, while what does not fit is displayed as a buffet. Breakfast too is served at Tiffin Room, featuring a delectable international spread. Tiffin translates into "a light mid-day meal". Enjoying it with curry on Sunday was an essential aspect of colonial life in the early 20th century, with Raffles Singapore serving it since 1899. To recognise this tradition, the main dining room was officially named Tiffin Room in 1976.

I have experienced the Tiffin Room Indian buffet a few times now and the selection is always pleasing and very tasty! The atmosphere is probably a little empty as is the restaurant on my visits.
Value-wise I suppose it's the setting that commands a steeper price but it's a nice experience.
Worth a look.

This was a wonderful experience. By New Zealand standards it was expensive but it was worth every cent. The staff were attentive; the food was delicious and there was an abundance of it. The tea and coffee was regularly replenished. All in all it was a splendid afternoon.

this famous and in koloniaal style build hotel is after years of renovation, a „must” to take at least a high tea. The Raffles Hotel is in the center and only 20 min. for airport. We enjoyed our delicious high tea in old style. SUPER!

There is no doubt having the curry buffet lunch at the Tiffin Room has the ambience and nostalgia of a byegone era. However, the food is really nothing extraordinary, the buffet has limited selection and is certainly over priced. If the Tiffin Room wants to continue to trade on its brand name and reputation, it will soon find that the only people going there will be tourists as it will become apparent to local foodies that you can get exactly the same quality and range of curry buffet lunch for half the price or less elsewhere. If this restaurant wants to retain a 'wow factor', it seriously needs to look at putting the 'wow factor' back into the buffet presentation and the restaurant experience.

Dear roryjdoyle,

Thank you for posting your review on TripAdvisor and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed the ambience and nostalgia of the Tiffin Room.

The North Indian Curry Buffet has been a tradition at Raffles since the late 1800s and we offer a selection of six vegetarian dishes and more than six varieties of meat, fish and seafood, including a wide and delicious appetizer selection, 10 different condiments, a soup and a dessert buffet of more than eight traditional Indian sweets as well as fresh fruit and ice cream.

The buffet lunch menu is at S$60 ++ while dinner is at S$75 ++, and the menus are rotated and varied on a weekly basis.

The ingredients are all fresh and our chefs use only the best produce in the preparation of the buffet spread, which happily sees hundreds of guests for both lunch and dinner every week and we feel that our prices are competitive with other buffet restaurants within the vicinity.

Thank you once again for taking the time to review us and allowing us the opportunity to clarify our philosophy.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Hirst
