This was a great night out! it was 36 SGD for an adult to get in, no real issues with queuing and easy enough to get to with a taxi from the city center costing about 25 SGD. we got there about 8pm and on the safari tram about 8.30. As I recall all the animals were out and about with plenty to see. There are 4 walking trails you can do in addition to the land train. we did 2 of the walks and were probably in the park for about 3 hours. We were advised to skip the show and get into seeing the animals first with a view to catching the show afterwards.
its a good evening out not just for kids, ensure you get out on foot and get to visit the fruit bat enclosure!
its easy enough getting home with a taxi rank opposite the entrance.Look out for the non registered taxis hanging around on the approach to the rank and give them a miss!

Don't be put off by the queues that will probably greet you. With typical Singaporean efficiency you are ushered into little open train cars, and taken for a fascinating ride through animal enclosures. Literally. You trundle over cattle grids into the actual enclosure (except the carnivores, of course.) Having a tapir snuffle past less than a metre away is amazing. Forget about photography, as flashes are of course banned, and the ban is strictly enforced, thankfully. Relax into just looking, for a change. You can get off half way for a walk, then catch another passing train. All the animals you see are of course nocturnal, so the variety probably isn't as great as during the day, but it is a unique experience.

This didn't feel like a zoo at all. There seemed to be very few actual cages. The tram ride was very informative, then we did some of the trails. Unfortunately we missed the show. The queue for the tram ride was quite long, I'd advise getting a drink before you join

It is a must visit. One of the most unique things in Singapore. If you love nature and animals, then you will relish this experience. In addition to moving around on a tram, you can also walk around trails and look at some animals in the night. The fruit bat enclosure along the leopard trail was great! Please do take a walk along all the trails, it is really the best part of the trip. Please keep at least 3-4 hours to do the night safari the full justice.

As a bit of a Zoo freak, and having visited several of the worlds best, I was expecting big things of the night safari. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. Expensive, rushed and pretty tired exhibits. While I accept that the fishing cats, the bittarongs and the slow loris were impressive, the rest was pretty poor. If you like poor views of animals sleeping in the dark, visit the leopards and clouded leopards, they did not flicker in the 4 hours I was there. Only part of the park is accessible on foot, the rest is served by the 'safari' train, which proceeded to drive around the park just fast enough to ensure you couldn't get a good look at the animals, let alone a photo. The big finale, the Malayan Tiger could not be seen at all, speaking to an employee, he is never seen!... The ball ache that was a bus back into the city at 11.30pm topped it off. Overall I picked the wrong zoo.....
