We had the worst meal and experience at this restaurant " Fuqing Marina Bay Seafood" on Boat Quay. We were looking for a special spot as my friend was celebrating her 50th birthday and were lured in by the offer of two free drinks per person. We should have realized then, that they were trying to scam us! We all proceeded to order and they asked us if we'd like to start with two platters to share and being a big group of 10 people we agreed. Now these platters weren't on the menu and they failed to inform us they were going to charge us $200 for them. The platters consisted of a few deep fried fish cakes, prawns and Satays. We were surprised that each dish had three sizes small, medium, large and when we asked about the size the waiter was very vague and unclear. My husband ordered sweet and sour fish and queried the price but again the waiter was unclear. The meals we ordered were small (even though we mostly ordered medium or large) were tasteless and disappointing. After an uninspiring meal we asked for the bill and that was when we realized the extent of the scam - the total was $850 AUD for 10 over $80 per head. They had charged $100 per platter, $65 for a small plate of deep fried squid and $ 150 for the fish. We were absolutely disgusted to say the least and told the manager that they were robbers and that we would not pay that amount for low quality food. The manager only took off $25 after we argued with him for ages. The meal was our worst dining experience ever and we have all travelled to many places around the world. I would deeply discourage anyone from dining here unless you want to spend a fortune on low quality food. There is so much amazing food on offer in Singapore keep clear of this place. It ruined my friends birthday dinner
