I recently visited Singapore zoo with my two children agreed 13 and 11. We had limited time on our two day Singapore stop over and had considered giving the zoo a miss but we were all glad we made the effort to visit. We travelled to the zoo by MRT and bus from the city and the entire trip took just over an hour each way, however it is a pleasant trip and a nice way to see some of the Singapore suburbia and countryside. The zoo is very well laid out and lovely to wander around. The enclosures are mostly fence free using other barriers to contain the animals. My personal favourites, the orangutans, have a fabulous enclosure and were literally climbing above our heads on strategically placed ropes, etc. Zoos can be a bit boring but I would recomend a visit to Singapore zoo.

A bit far from town but definitely worth a visit if you have kids with you. We did the night safari and that was really well done.

Went mainly to catch a glimpse of the pandas at the River Safari, which is a separate park, but decided since it was next door, we'd check it out. So glad we did. Although it rained some, it cooled things off and thinned the crowd out some. Loved the feeling that you are in their environment, with lots of plush greenery and lack of tall fences. You can actually get really up close with most of the big animals. All you have between you and the cheetahs, leopards, and lions is a big thick piece of glass! Didn't need the tram at all, everything was really a short walk in between exhibits, except perhaps the tram operator talks about each exhibit, or maybe on a hot day. Didn't see too many butterflies in the butterfly exhibit, but it was cool to see all the unexpected bats hanging and flying around! And they provide great seating areas to watch the baboons, which you can watch for hours; and same with the manatees, perfect music playing while they swim around. Great enjoyment for all ages alike!

As zoos go, this seems to be a pretty good one. We particularly enjoyed the monkeys and apes. Try to buy your tickets online to avoid long queues on arrival. The food in the onsite restaurant was pretty poor.
