Stayed in this serviced residence December 2012 during my vacation to Singapore to do shopping and Christmas celebration. We rent two rooms unit apartment. It comes with breakfast, free Wifi and it doesn't have additional cost for Christmas eve like most hotel do in Singapore. It is around 10mins walking distance to Clark Quay MRT station. Plenty of foods, bars, shopping around this hotel.
Pro:
- free hi speed Internet, got washing machine, and kitchen
-not too far from taxi stand, MRT station.
- clean and friendly staffs.

Cons:
-noisy as there is construction going on not too far from the hotel
-a bit hard to find main entrance
- furniture, buildings, lift a bit old
- poor breakfast choice and limited seat

Overall I will still recommend this for those travel with family. It is so convenience, affordable if compare to rent two rooms at other hotel.

We stayed in a 2 bed apartment for 8 nights.
The apartment itself is very clean and the secondary bedroom looks recently refurbished. However the furniture in the lounge looks pretty tired.
After an initial problem with check in the staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Location next to Clarke quay is fantastic.
I agree with some comments about breakfast provided, it was very average. We only went one morning, after that we made our own knowledge the room.
Having a kitchen and washer/dryer with a young family was invaluable.
We did not get any noise from construction.
We would stay again.

I think I was lucky to get a room with a fantastic view! I was put up on the 23rd floor with a view of the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay and a partial view of the Singapore river. The best part about this place is its a jump skip and hop away from all the incredible line of restaurants on Clarke Quay and Ministry of Sound!
The 2 bedroom place that I stayed at was exceptional with convenience to cook a 3 course meal. The bedding was very comfortable and I think the bathtub was the best part of the room.
I'd recommend anyone who wants to stay inside the city for a reasonable rate.
Enjoy your stay!

Our group of 5 adults and a 15-month old baby visited Singapore in Dec 2012 for about 11 nts during the week of Christmas and New Year's Eve. We rented a spacious 2-BR, 2-bath apt on the top floor with views of Clarke Quay and of the Marina Bay. The serviced apt has kitchenette stuffed with cookware and utensils we needed, washer/dryer, dining area, living room with 32-inch flat screen tv with cable channels, work/computer table and free wifi. The ensuite master BR has a king bed with tv set, a baby cot (provided free) fits in; and the spacious guest BR has two single beds. Both rooms have ample closet space. Although the apt is cleaned daily, obviously, is a bit tired and dated as the second room smells musty--we just opened the windows from time to time to let the air circulate. Nevertheless, we're happy campers. From the comforts of our balcony, we enjoyed the evening laser lights of Wonder Full lights and water show and the New Year's eve fireworks on the Marina Bay; and watched the NY Eve revelry of live concert under the colorful umbrellas of Clarke Quay, famous for its nightlife.

The check-in process was smooth and fast. The concierge staff are friendly, considerate--even let the fifth person in our group stay free (though no breakfast coupon), and helped print out our boarding passes. Breakfast though needs improvement, but for the price I shouldn't complain at all. There are many other places to eat nearby. The big swimming pool is shared by Novotel guests; has small gym and jacuzzi on the 25th floor. There is a Meidi-Ya Japanese supermarket at the basement where you can get everything you need.

We always enjoy our stroll at Riverside Point. At Clarke Quay visitors can book river cruise tours, experience the extreme swing G-Max and GX-5; or walk along the Promenade, and dine and shop at the Central. Across River Valley Rd is Fort Canning, which is about 15-20-minute leisurely walk to Orchard Road. Although Fort Canning is undergoing MRT line construction, the noise didn't bother us when balcony doors are shut (perhaps, because we're on the 22/F). The property is well-situated to Clarke Quay MRT and several bus stops. Further down from the MRT is Chinatown, which is about 15-min walk.

Taxi service at the airport (or arranged tour pick-ups) will drop off Somerset passengers in front of Novotel lobby; then guests either walk around towards River Valley Rd to the other side where the Somerset lobby is (next to McDonalds) or take a short-cut inside the Liang Court mall, where you'll find shops and food court. (One time, while we were waiting long enough at Novotel lobby for our tour, I requested their concierge to find out if our tourbus is on its way to pick us up. Glad they were so helpful to Somerset guests).

For a van ("maxi car" is how Singaporeans call it), we paid a flat rate of SIN 60 to take us to the airport (pick up is in front of Somerset).

My wife and I stayed here for six nights of mixed business and pleasure. The location was chosen as it was handy to work, and being near the substantial Fort Canning parkland. We had a room on the south east side of the hotel, so looking towards Clarke Quay and the city. We'd read about noise from the MRT station works next door affecting the other side of the building, so requested this side in advance. However, at whatever time we came and went, it was never noticeable.

The building appears quite old by Singapore standards but the rooms have been nicely updated. We had a two bedroom apartment and it had (almost) everything you could wish for - the missing thing being a dishwasher, which a related serviced apartment I have used in Singapore previously did have. Importantly, the air conditioning worked brilliantly.

One odd thing in the room, was the fact the external doors - to the two balconies overlooking Clarke Quay - have no locks or latches, they just slide open. This could be a security concern, and it very odd as most places I've stayed in always encourage you to lock everything.

The rooms were all arranged around a central open "court" - hence the name I guess - and at the bottom of this was the breakfast area, part of which is elegantly photographed on their web site (the Balinese looking bit is actually outdoors so a bit inhospitably humid until you get used to it - most of the breakfast area is indoors and air conditioned). Service was great, the staff learned to recognise us and produced the bowl of raisins (sultanas) we'd seen on the first day, and asked for on the second, as soon as they saw us after that.

The rooms weren't serviced on Sunday (but were every other day). The only issue we had was three out of four soap dispensers were empty. This wasn't automatically fixed, we had to ask, but once we did, no problem.

The washer / drier was a bit cryptic in how to use it. We got there in the end but only by trial and error. The manual didn't help!

If we'd had our children with us, there would have been enough room, but the annoying thing then would have been, the bath (with shower over it) is in the en suite, and the shower is in the second bathroom. A small thing but surprisingly common. Why?

The building has a shopping mall underneath, including a food court for a very inexpensive bite or a supermarket. And of course Clarke Quay had lots of places to eat. There are no other particular tourist attractions nearby, but we enjoyed walking along the river bank in the morning.

The nearest train station is Clarke Quay, but it's on the opposite side of the river and well hidden under another hotel - it's easier to find your way out of than into.

The price was OK considering work was paying for half of it. For two bedrooms with a bit of space, it was good value. If you sign up for their mailing list, you will get 15% off the list price, so that's worth doing.

I'd definitely stay here again, particularly if I get the chance to bring the children.

Room Tip: Some noise from Clarke Quay on a weekend evening, but nothing serious. Building works on all other...

First time we have stayed at a Somerset property and stayed her after reading some other TA reviews. There were four of us in a 2 bedroom apartment and we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment had everything you could need including free WiFi and even the basic breakfast available downstairs in the morning was quite adequate or there was a supemarket next door. The location close to Clarke Quay was great with just a short walk to the MRT and places to eat out for dinner Jumbo's etc. The staff were very helpful and the other reviews have mentioned construction noise but we didnt notice it at all. The pool is shared with the Novotel and is a nice place to relax and never crowded plenty of seating under nice sunshades. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a 2 bedroom on a higher floor but did have to wait a while for the lifts so maybe lower floor...
