“A Short But Sweet Stay”

My first stop on my 9 month gap year was in Singapore and choose this hostel for its backpacking specialty. Absolutely amazing service, although I was delayed on arrival, a bus service from the airport very cheaply. Lovely owners really down to Earth, great fun and very accommodating, although a tad camera shy. I got the bus most of the time, the stop is only 2 minutes away. Also there is a MRT station not far, I walked there with a backpack, rucksack and camera bag fairly easily, to get back to the airport. Overall a very enjoyable stay and highly recommended to any backpacker spending a short while in Singapore!

One of my favourite hostels in a year of travel. Mike is such a friendly man and makes you feel so at home. Ok it is a tiny bit out of the centre but that is more than made up for by the friendly atmosphere. Will definitely stay there again next time I am back in Singapore.

I had doubts because the reviews said that it is a bit far from the center, but once I was there I was really happy with my decission. It is just 15 min walking to the city center but you have a bus stop just beside to the hostel The hostel is basically a flat with 2 big rooms, the kitchen and the reception. It is cosy, very clean, the beds are good with lockers and there is free toasts, coffee & tea the whole day. Mike, the owner is a very kind man, he will help you in everything you need... he is there in the mornings which means that in the evenings it is not like a hostel but a house and that makes you feel like at home. Great atmosphere!!!

Room Tip: upper bunk beds have the aircon just above them, so if you are sensitive to that, it would be better...

Stayed here for 4 nights, nice and clean and the family who run the hostel are lovely, one evening the owner bought us all ice creams. It was very clean and tidy. a little on the small side but more than adequate. we caught a taxi from the airport which wasn't far, and then we caught buses everywhere from the hostel.

Room Tip: We stayed in female dorm, which slept 6 people. 3 dorms in total. i think one slept 10-15 people.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Singapore. The directions off hostel bookers very good and we got a taxi from outram park station which isn't far from the hostel. The hostel itself was very clean with a good free breakfast.. Tea coffee jam bread Nutella and bananas on some days :) and the breakfast was available all day as well as the tea and coffee so it didn't matter what time we woke up! There is a washing machine and dryer available for $4 and you just put your money in the pot when you want to use it. There are lots of free maps and things to do all over the walls, and the maps clearly explain how to get everywhere you want to. The beds are huge and the air con is very good, you also get a locker each which has hangers in for your clothes!
Mike is very friendly and we arrived quite late, but our beds had our names on and we just paid in the morning. He also told us how to get to the bus terminal with ease and what bus to catch. The hostel is very close to a food court and a few shops. Over all it was a lovely stay in this hostel and I would recommend it too any one staying in Singapore!

A friend and I stayed here for 8 nights, leaving today.

Having been well advised by Mike (lovely guy) as the best way to get to the hostel from the airport ($9 bus direct from services desk) We arrived past check in time. A key was left with instructions and a note directing us to our room, and then even a post it note on our bunk beds. The beds are larger than average for hostel rooms and, whilst not located directly in the city, there are very good transport links (MRT station a 10 minute walk away).

The hostel has free, high speed wifi and a communal laptop to use if you don't have your own. There are two bathrooms, and at a guess, the hostel accommodates a maximum of roughly 20 people at any one time. Aircon is good and, as stated before, the hostel owner Mike is very friendly, kind and knowledgable about the area and activities, including providing tickets at below RRP for attractions in Singapore.

All told, we were extremely satisfied with our stay at the Happy Snail and would recommend it to anyone staying in Singapore.

The only (small) negative is that, besides a microwave and toaster, there are no facilities to cook your own food. However, there is a food court located directly next to the hostel where you can feed for around $4/5, which is very cheap.

I stayed here for 3 days. The hostel is maybe a little bit small, but it's cozy. I met some great people there and the the breakfast it great. Especially the bread is divine after two months of Indonesia. But okay. The hostel is clean, the staff is very nice and if you need to know something. Just ask Mike. He knows (almost) everything. The Wi-fi is pretty fast. I almost felt at home :p. The hostel is a 10 - 15 min walk from the MRT. Maybe for some to far, but I don't care. I like to walk. Gives me the opportunity to see the area/city. With the MRT you'll be in 10 min in Little China or Little India, and 20 min in Orchard Road or the park.
The only negative comment about this hostel is that there are only 2 showers/toilets for to many people.
