A ferry ride and some time on this tiny Island is a very relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The only thing on the Island is 2 temples and a tortoise sanctuary. There are no shops so make sure you bring some drinks and snacks with you. There are also toilet facilities and outdoor showers to rinse off if you decide to go swimming.

The Island has wide paved paths suitable for wheel chairs and strollers. There is also an abundance of picnic tables and chairs, all of which have a view of the ocean and a refreshing sea breeze.

It seems to be a popular spot for fishing and there were also people swimming near the beaches.
Bring a book to read, or some sports gear to pass the time or simply sit back admire the Singapore skyline from a different perspective and watch the boats go by.

The ferry ride will cost you $18.00 per adult from the Marina south pier. Check the timetable as the ferries are infrequent and you will be spending at least 2 hours on the island when you disembark. Best way to get to the ferry terminal is by taxi, or if you are not in a hurry there is the number 402 bus. The ferry also stops at St Johns Island and your fare will allow you to spend some time on both Islands.

“Away from the noise of Singapore.”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Today my friend surprised me with a trip out to Kusu Island. We left on the 10am ferry and returned on the 4pm ferry. We swam, we had a picnic... And enjoyed the quietness away from the hustle and bustle of Singapore. Remember to take your own picnic, lots of water, towels and sunblock. I thoroughly recommend a visit to the island if you want to escape the city.

“Go for cruise ride not for Kusu!”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

I had high expectations from Kusu in terms of great picnic spot but it turned out to be disappointing. The Island really don't have anything to offer except few turtles in a pond and a old chinese temple. There was nothing great about beaches or landscape.
However, the cruise ride (SGD 15) to Kusu was worth the money. Will recommend to visit Kusu in a big group. And don't forget to bring food and drinks else it could become a big spoilsport.

“Kusu not khusus!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

I spent the hour the returning ferry from Lazarus Island allows you wandering around this tiny island. It is pleasant enough. The temple is so so. The few tired turtles in the ponds seem as listless as the old temple caretaker who will sell you a cold drink.
The flat part of the island has been landscaped and it is pleasant enough. The view back to Singapore is worth the trip. At least you feel you are no longer a part of the bustle of the city state.
Climbing to the top of the island's only hill leads you to the graves of a couple of long forgotten Muslim leaders. It is nothing to write home about at all. Dusty graves on a hill on an island. Wow! Exciting? I think not.
Perhaps a little more information in the form of plaques with more about the history of the graves-and the people in them-would be useful.
I am told that on Chinese new year the place is alive with visitors. Not the Muslim graves, I hasten to add, but the picnic area and the food court built opposite the temple. But if you wanted to watch people eating, why come to Kusu?

“Island is underwhelming but the cruise out there is nice”

Get a good view of down town Singapore from the boat out there. Kusu has a shrine on it and not much else
