“No complaints, interesting area!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2012

Only stayed at Kam Leng for one night, arrived at 11pm, left the following morning at 9am. Check in person was pleasant, found my name quickly, no drama. Took me about 10 minutes from Lavendar Station, I only had hand luggage, no drama for me. Fantastic there were food places opposite the hotel (open apparently 24/7), I had great food there (I love Asian food!)! The place was still very busy, people were friendly, I loved it, even had 'breakfast' there the following morning, I was happy! Yes, standard rooms are smalls, fine with me, travelled by myself, I asked for a room in the 'back', only woke up at 7.30am or so. Really? If you just need a place to stay for a night near LITTLE INDIA etc, great place! The hotel is a historic place, I was completedly satisfied!

Room Tip: If you do not sleep easily, ask for a room away from the main street outside!

Stayed in a room facing the backside of the hotel, next to the staircase. Could barely sleep due to slamming doors, people walking on the tiled floors, toilets flushing.
Switched to a room at the end of a hallway, facing the street. Same experience, now with added traffic noise, moving desk chair, and neighours snoring. Refuse containers get emptied around midnight.

Rooms had a bed, desk, chair, four coat hooks plus hanger, one room had a night stand.
No closet, no drawers.
Rooms are dark, floor looks dirty.

TV in one one room was in a corner, whenever you had clothes on a hanger, it covered parts ot the TV screen. Eight stations, two of them english (Channelnewsasia, CNN Asia), others in local languages.
Free Wifi.

Avoid if you need a quiet room.

Room Tip: I am afraid there is no good room. 1) Rooms in the rear have less traffic noise. In rooms at the en...

We have just returned from a three week holiday in Singapore and loved every minute of it we stayed at the Kam Leng Hotel and these are our finding after staying for three weeks the rooms are small but that is the style of most hotel rooms in Asian countries after all you are only sleeping in it the lack of somewhere to put your clothes was a disappointment but we got by.
The rooms was cleaned everyday by the wonderful cleaning ladies and always with a smile and a pleasant good morning from them the cleanliness of the rooms was excellent.
The staff on arrival was very friendly and helpful and was always there to give us advise on everything we asked, also the staff in the Suprette restaurant where we had breakfast everyday was exceptional with there service especially Yaasin he made the best coffee we ever tasted we could not find any faults with the hotel or the staff apart from as I said earlier the lack of somewhere to store your clothes but we will return to this hotel on our next trip and will look forward to staying there.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 4th floor at the rear it is a lot quieter

Stayed standard room here mid November 2012 for 3 nights @ $70AU per night through Asia rooms
Pros
Air con, elevator, wifi, accross the road from Lavender Food Hawker Centre which is 24 hours, fridges in room. Comfortable but compact rooms, clean
Cons-Although location is good, a 10 minute to closest MRT at Lavender which isn't too bad, but in the heat can be an issue. Front rooms can be a bit noisy as Jalan Besar a busier road through Little India.
Would definetly stay again

The hotel was great and the prices are good. The rooms are small but clean, the bathroom is always clean with well maintained facilities. There is a reception area where you could sit and a connected restaurant that serves Western / European food.

Small rooms but clean and neat. Bar fridge provided. Reasonablyb sized bathroom. Had a rear corner room back from the street. Bus stop & 24 hour eatery (local foods) across the road. New small bar/restuarant opened with very friendly staff. The lights in the corner away from the bed were a bit strange but the switch was accessable from the bed. Much superior to the hotel we moved from (Value on Balastier Rd)

Room Tip: No pool or fitness centre. Room at back away from street noise
