Owner description: Singapore City Gallery is a great starting point to get to know the city for free. Located beside the Maxwell food centre in the historic district of Chinatown, this 3 storey visitor centre goes beneath the skin of the city to understand how the city came to be with its memorable buildings, historic districts and walkable street. Design your own city through a dynamic 8-player game. The main draw is an enormous model replica of the City Centre with uncannily accurate miniatures of building, giving you bird's eye view of the streetscapes of Singapore.

“Wonderful, free gallery of the history of development & future plans for the city”
Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

This is really a great place to take people. Impressive scale models of the city. Find out what land is reclaimed, the cities approach to sustainable development and plans for the future. If you love design/architecture and before / after photos this gallery fully captures Singapores drive for development.

“Learn much more about Singapore”
Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

Traveling with my Architect husband I sometimes end up visiting places I dont have much interest in, but not this time! The center provides in-depth information on Singapore's development as a city and what it will need to do in the future to support a growing population on a small island. If you are someone who loves cities and getting to know more about the place you are in (for free!) - this is a stop for you.
Also it's right next to the Maxwell Hawker, suggest visiting the popular Tian Tian Chicken Rice stall.

“Gem even for locals!”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

I discovered this place a few years ago and I have been bringing my overseas pals for a visit since. You get to admire cute miniatures, appreciate the use of space in Singapore (and how small we are!). And we have a ball searching picking out local spots. Going up to level 3, you can get a glimpse of the old vs new singapore and it is one truly enjoyable experience for locals and tourists! And its all free!=)

“Go with the flow”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

Great place to visit for someone who wants to know Singapore to it's central core. We can walk through the stories from the beginning of Singapore to now and the next step of the city development. There are interactive games too!

The most amazing thing is the miniatures they make, so detailed and eye-popping!
