“Great location.”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

i recently stayed with my family at this hotel and the experience was fairly average. the housekeeping staff is excellent and very helpful but the hotel itself is not a great place to stay. the rooms are fairly old and very small in size. the hotel is excellently located near Bras Basah MRT station. With the ongoing work for Bencoolen MRT station, the place is quite noisy. Overall, i suggest you go for this hotel if you are on a shoe string budget.

I stayed here as I was joining a tour. The room itself was clean, and had a safe and complimentary water. This is as much praise as I can give. The building work outside the hotel was loud and I heard banging coming from outside in the night, so had a pretty poor night's sleep. There is no real lobby to speak of, or proper place to have breakfast. They serve the breakfast outside on the street and there is nowhere to sit. Wi-Fi has to be paid for. The noise just made this hotel awful. Thankfully we were only there for one night, if I was travelling alone and staying for longer I would have moved hotels. Maybe once the building work has completed things might be very much improved, but I will give this place a wide berth if in Singapore again.

I stayed here at the end of a G Adventures tour and I thought it was fine. The room was clean, all staff I encountered were friendly and helpful and the location was good. Obviously it's not ideal that there's renovation happening at the front of the hotel but that's not their fault. It met my needs.

Although a useful location, the hotel does not represent good value for money. Small attention to details such as a basic level of cleanliness would have made a big differnce. Also, a smile and a basic welcome, after a long flight wouldve made the trip seem worth while. The male staff were very polite, helpful (if they were allowed to be by the efficous female manager) but the women in general were surley and unhelpful, very defensive. Watch out at breakfast, the women shout at eachother and you! Their normal answer to any question is negative, usually 'no' or 'its very expensive'(relating to cost of making a phone call). The food court nearby was good value and was a relief to find 'friendly' Singaporeans after a long flight.
Advice if you do stay, get out as much as possible! And its easy and cheap to see the sights. Singapore is worth a visit. I only stayed 2 nights before joining a wonderful tour through Malaysia & Thailand with G Adventures. We were a 15min walk from the main bus station to take us there, hence the reason for the tour company choosing the hotel.

Room Tip: I asked for a 'quiet room' - the inference was they didnt exist. Take ear plugs - the air co...

Hotel was good enough for budget and road works were no bother either. And free WiFi in room. Great location. What destroyed our stay here was the loud music from bar downstairs midnight till at least 4am ! Nightmare.

Room Tip: Don't book one

The MRT renovations in front are making it difficult for taxis and transport. You have to enter fro the rear car park or walk 20 mters to road to hail a cab.

The hotel rooms are not clean. they advertise free wifi but restrict you to 2 devices in this day and age 3 is not unreasonable.

The clincher for me is the breakfast. There is not enough room in the restaurant so they park you on the foot path in hot Singapore weather. There breakfast is the worst I have encountered and I stay in hotels 3 of every 4 weeks.

Room Tip: PLenty better value around, my room windo was a view of a wall

Thought that it was one of the most convenient location, I booked this hotel just 2 days before my trip to Singapore. It really is (Just 5-10mins walk to Bras Basah MRT Station).

BUT JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER-- there is a construction going on the Bencoolen Street, mainly in front of the hotel. So, it is a MUST to walk towards/from Bras Basah Rd or Prinsep Link to get/drop off from public transpo (which is very inconvenient when bringing luggage with you.)

The time we arrived in SG, it was raining so we don't have any choice but to ride a taxi just to get to nearby hotel, still walk around 25m before we get into the hotel itself. Me and mum are very embarrassed since we have our luggage with us.

The good side is checking-in was very smooth, the receptionist, concierge and a guy (maybe a waiter/maintenance) in the restaurant are very friendly and accommodating. The room (king room) is nice, spacious and clean. Bathroom is relatively spacious, bathtub doesn't have rubber mat, so your risk of falling/sliding is high. Breakfast is good however, the food are just placed outside the hotel (although it is covered) as well as the utensils are exposed to the street with construction outside and public just passing by.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are quieter (We stayed in 7th floor) and side opposite to the construction.
