“Good clean serviceable hotel with nice pool and great price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

The hotel is in a great location near to the riverside which has many bars and nice places to dine. The hotel itself is functional and clean and is serviced by some excellent staff who are very helpful. The bathrooms are a good size with plenty of good towels and toiletries. Breakfast in the hotel is reasonable and at a good price and obviously has a very Asian influence. The bed is quite hard but comfortable for my personal preference. Overall a very good hotel worth considering for a stay in Singapore at reasonable prices. The pool and spa is great especially after a hard days sightseeing. There are plenty of towels and it is a sun trap. Beware generally Singapore is very hot and humid so hydrate constantly. The Air conditioning in the rooms are a welcome relief from the temperatures.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the river and you cannot go wrong. Also a higher floor to reduce the road no...

Our room needed attention when we arrived. This was fixed promptly when we advised housekeeping. Apart from that we have no complaints. Located by the river and near a river cruise stop it was well situated for our purposes. The a la carte menu was better value than the buffet options. We were given a 20% discount which made it even better value. We ate twice for dinner and once for breakfast. Enjoyed a swim in the hotel pool and the aircon kept our room cool. Appreciated the complimentary bottled water. Paying for wifi always annoys.

Room Tip: The 14th floor is nonsmoking. We dined a la carte to get value. Breakfast omelet came with toast and...

Staff very attentive and helpful. Location was fine, overlooking the river, with good bus service to Botanic Gardens and elsewhere. Room decent size, bathroom fine. Good choice of food in cafeteria. They will store luggage if you are leaving on a late flight and have a courtesy room well stocked with towels if you need a shower before departing.

We stayed at the Hotel Miramar in Singapore for 5 days 19 to 24 June 2013.
This is a nice hotel and after the cramp room in Hong Kong this room was a very pleasant suprise, light, airy and quite large. The bed was huge and the bathroom was more than adequate. We were on the top floor, front facing and with a pleasant view of the river.
The Door and Bell staff were helpful when asked but nor particuarily friendly. Other staff in the Brass Rail and Fern Tree were excellent.

The Fern Tree Cafe was a buffet and a la carte. The a la carte seemed a little expensive compared to food centres but the Buffet, in spite of going at the most expensive time, the weekend, was realoly good value with a far ranging selection of food that was both interesting and delicious.

The Staff at the Brass Rail lounge were welcoming and friendly. The entertainment in the evenings was a Trio, one male two females who whilst good, versatile and popular, were quite loud and better appreciated whilst sat outside. The outside seating area soon became our lounge and nothing tasted better than a cold Tiger after walking back from Chinatown or a stroll along the river.

Singapore itself is a bit of a construction sight at present. We went to Suntec, an area I know well, to find that Tower Five has about 3 shops and Towers3 + 4 are closed due to renovations. The food court that was under the towers has gone and a White, antiseptic new food court opened under the fountain. It is bland with no atmosphere at all.
There are building works at Clarke Quay where they are constructing a new MRT line and a lot more scattered through the city.

We went to Gardens by the Bay which in time will be stunning but is at present in the early part of its growth. East Coast park is beautiful with a long stretch of coastline and wonderful views.

Haw Paw Villa, or Tigerbalm Gardens as it was, is still open and still a source of amusement and wonder, although it is slowly being let to go to waste. I think Singapore Tourist should take it over, it is after all a Sinagapore Heiritage.
Little India and China town are both well worth a visit, Little India in the day and Chinatown at night.

Singapore is a wonderful city with plenty to satisfy all kinds of taste but with the construction work seeminly everywhere it might be better to leave for a year or two and go when things have settled down.

We had a three day Singapore stopover at this hotel on our way to Vietnam and found it very good value. We were able to walk to China town and clarke quay where you have a great choice of eating places. Getting 50% off meals was good as a cooked breakfast was $33.00. The swimming pool was great to use after sightseeing to cool off and the hop on hop off bus stops right outside the hotel which is great.

Room Tip: We asked for a river view room which was nice.

This hotel provides a great base from which you can explore Singapore. It sits on a main road so catching at taxi from directly outside the hotel is easy. They also provide a free bus service to the nearby shopping district (Orchard Road) and China Town. If you would prefer to ChinaTown and the marina it will take about 20-30mins, if you fancy the walk make sure you grab a cheap bottle of water from the garage next to the hotel. The interior of the hotel is fairly typical and aimed at city business men, I’m sure there are more luxurious hotels in the area but we found this hotel provided great value for money for a short stop over in a vibrant city.

The staff are very helpful. The hotel was very clean, rooms perfect for a short break. It is quite close to Clarke Quay where all the nightlife takes place and has plenty of different eating places
Breakfast was a different issue, if you want buffet not a problem you just help yourself, but if you want continental then you are served at the table with tea/coffee, toast with marmalade/jam and juice, that's it but remember there is a big price difference
