“Close to Singapore River”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2011

A very nice clean hotel with extremely pleasant staff. The room was very comfortable and a good nights sleep in the large bed. The hotel is close to the river and within easy walking distance of all amenities.

This hotel is ideally situated for all the city sites. I would recommend the hop on, hop of bus service which stops out side the hotel for initial views of the city. Most places are walable but can take time. The quickest routes for walikng are along the river which is accessed across the road from the Miramar and behind the hotels.
Raffles Hotel is a must for afternoon tea and the organised trips are really good value and work out far cheaper. China town is about 15 minutes walk away and two can eat for £2.50
(thats both not each!!!)
Orchard Raod ( main shopping area) is a must and can be got to by bus/taxi or as we did walking.
The hotel staff (as everyone in Sinapore) are friendly and very helpul. This is truley a wonderful city where you can wonder at anytime of the day or night and feel safe. It is clean, buzzing and a must for culture, food and entertainment.

The Miramar is a good mid range hotel in an excellent position for strolling out in the evening towards Clarke's Quay to eat. The rooms are clean and comfortable with views over the river, breakfasts are good and the staff are friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for reasonable price.

I travelled on December 2010 during christmas, and spent almost a week in Miramar and couple of days spent in Marina Sands Hotel.

Miramar is in quiet location near Clarke Quay, we just need to cross the road and stroll side of the river to enjoy Clarke Quay. It is good to do before dusk. The location of the hotel is really not for orchard lover who likes to enjoy crowds and shopping. You can find many eateries a long the riverside but they are not food court style eateries, and their price is not food court price either. Most of the eateries are great place to hang out to enjoy open air in the evening.

For transportation, right in front of hotel we can find bus stop, but I mostly used taxi because we are four people so there won't be so much differrent in the cost except during peak hour (I still couldn't understand the calculation of taxi rating in Singapore when it comes to additional cost due to ERP system although I have been there many times. LOL).

The facility in the hotel is very basic. The pool is small. Restaurant is good although isn't great. Good thing about this hotel is they provide temporary storing facility for our luggages although we check out already, of course it is only for short period with maximum till the next day. This kind of facility is quite helpful especially when our flight is on very late hour so we still can spend last hours going around freely without many luggages bothering us. I enjoyed same facility in Royal Park Hongkong which was really helpful when I visited Shenzhen for two days. I could travel light without many bags.

Over all I can say it was worth the cost you pay for.

This was a cheap stopover option on our way to Australia. The location was close by to Clarke Quay, and we found all the nearby bars and places to eat pretty pricey; so it was as cheap to eat and drink in the hotel if you didn't fancy going far. Orchard Road is the cheaper option to eat and drink, so you may wish to stay closer to there if that's a big part of your trip.

We were initially given a twin room upon arrival, that smelt pretty fusty. However, when we asked to be moved this was done immediately and the king sized bed room was fresh, clean and comfortable.

The staff were helpful and friendly, in particular the bar staff and the general view was that the Singapore Slings were much nicer (and more reasonably priced) than at raffles.

They had a free shuttle to Orchard Road in the day, so shopping was easy enough, although it must be said that taxis in Singapore are really cheap and easily available, so getting round isn't a problem.

All in all it's a reasonable hotel, perfectly adequate for a stopover - and yes you do get what you pay for.

This is my third visit to the Miramar and it functions as efficiently as ever. Excellent hotel for a stop over as it is so well organised. It has on the 4th floor an excellent outdoor pool, which is a great attraction for myself and my wife. It is situated adjacent to Clarks Quay where many restaurants and bars are set. The food is good and i can recommend it. If travelling by Singapore Airlines and using the hotel as a stopover one gets on food a 50% reduction. In these times with a falling pound, not to be sneezed at.. The staff are friendly and efficient and the beds are comfortable

The hotel is in a great location near the river and about 10mins walk from Clarke Quay. The rooms are a good size, nicely furnished, well maintained and spotlessly clean. The staff were extremely helpful - we were given a river view room and a late check out until 2pm for no extra charge. The pool area is extremely nice, surrounded by trees and with a jacuzzi - my only complaint (and it's a small one) would be a lack of sunbeds. In terms of value for money this is an excellent choice as it considerably cheaper than other hotels of a similar standard nearby. I would definitely book this hotel again.
