The Inn at Temple Street
Ranked #176 of 317 Hotels in Singapore
Reviewed October 20, 2012

The Inn is amazingly well located in Chinatown, right near the MRT and markets, which is probably the biggest drawcard. The rooms are small but clean and nice and the bathroom is good. You would want to share with someone you know very well because the bathroom door has slats which means you can hear everything! Also, while there is a nice big bathtub, when asked if the hotel had stoppers so you could actually take a bath instead of a shower we were told they didn't have any- odd indeed. The downside was probably the service. The front desk staff do not go out of their way to help you with anything and you really have to be quite persistent about asking questions and making requests. If your looking for a place to rest your head while you check out Singapore I would definitely recommend it, if you want a little luxury and attentive staff look elsewhere.

The Inn At Temple Street is perfectly located in the heart of Chinatown. There are many good restaurants on Temple Street and nearby within a block. Yum Cha Restaurant famous for Dim Sum is right across the street from the Inn At Temple Street. There's a 7-11 store at the corner and a supermarket 2 blocks away. The lobby is small, clean, has a good selection of brochures for tourists, one computer for Internet access - costly at $5.00 USD an hour. Free newspaper (English language) to read in the lobby. No elevator/lift. The rooms are small. Shower and bathroom is small but water pressure for a shower is good. No bottled water nor a face cloth in the bathroom. Just 2 towels and soap. Housekeeping needs improvement. Toilet paper was needed two days and no bath mat was left 2 days to prevent slipping on the bathroom tile floor. Rooms facing Temple Street can be noisy - even at night and in the early morning when trash is picked up. Rooms in the back or on the side face a dirty alley with too many trash bins located in the alley. A big plus for the Inn At Temple Street are two very caring, helpful and polite receptionists at the registration desk = Caran and Sean. The Manager is off weekends and he/she doesn't check incoming e-mails sent to the e-mail address on the Inn's web page. Not good. I sent 3 e-mails from Penang before I arrived asking if a relative from NYC checked in. No reply. The downside of the Inn are the cockroaches. Our 1st night in Room 221, we killed 5 roaches. We were moved to Room 302. Okay the 2nd night. The morning of the 3rd day we killed a large cockroach in the bathroom before we checked out. So, beware of these uninvited guests. I cannot recommend the Inn At Temple Street to my USA friends and family because of the roach problem. Hopefully, The Inn At Temple Street will without delay - fix the roach troubles.

Room Tip: Check the room for cockroaches. Room facing Temple Street are noisy.

we stayed as a group of three couples for three nights in august, the location could not be any better. we had three rooms on the top floor on the street side above the entrance to the hotel.the rooms were very small but comfortable, its not the type of hotel you sit back and relax in anyway.the mrt is right behind the hotel, smith street food stalls through the alley opposite and the markets all around.for such abusy little street we had no sleep issues at all.they don't serve breakfast but the golden arches is only a minutes walk on the same street.it was good value considering you were right in the heart of singapore.

Room Tip: stay in the rooms on top floor on the same side of the entrance.they have windows.

Small but very nice hotel in the heart of chinatown in Singapore. Rooms are not too big (enough for a smal stay) but the decoration is beatiful. Helpful staff. Would definitelly recommend it to other travellers

This is a nice clean small hotel in a quiet part of China Town. The rooms are small but cosy and the people who run the hotel are very helpful. It is close to the MRT and some nice places to eat. The night market is at the end of the road so you don't need to go far to get everything you need.

we stayed in this hotel last April of 2012 , what i like most is the location , , its strategically located to any direction in Chinatown be it near the restaurant, shopping areas and most of all MRT stn,. Receptionist were not so accomodating , that they dont have bellboys nobody will carry your suitcase to the upper floor ,, no free breakfast and Wi-Fi ,It has good and clean room and a bathroom, the fact that it is not cheap to stay there you cannot get your money's worth.

Room Tip: do not stay in room 313 very far from stairs

The location is okay but the rooms are tiny-too small in fact. I can't say anything positive about this hotel to be honest and it wasn't as if it was cheap to stay there. Unfortunately, I had prepaid for the room so wasn't prepared to get stung twice by moving to another hotel.
