The Holiday Inn,Orchard Rd. was very opulent, just like everything else in Singapore. The rooms are spacious, extreamly clean and well equiped. The staff are friendly and happy to help. The resturant was nothing special but with so much to see around I didn't really give it a second thought. The lounge had a band which was nice to relax too in the evening but you really have to get out and about to see the city. One minor point would be the cost, the hotel is not the cheapest and then to add on the cost of wifi, it is a bit much.

All in all a great hotel if a bit pricey, but recommended.

I recently stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, it is worth paying a bit more for the executive room with lounge access. The staff were very friendly and happy to assist with any requests. The lounge access gives you a place to go to relax during the day with soft drinks, teas, and internet access, from 2 - 4 they have high tea (small cut sandwiches and cakes) and from 6 - 8 there is more food including some hot items and a nice selection of hors d'oeuvre with a wide range of alcoholic beverages available, all free to those with lounge access. The room we stayed in was a little musty when you first entered but this would have been due to the humidity outside. The hotel is very central and and we usually paid about $7 (cab fare) to visit all the surrounding areas eg china town, little india, gardens by the bay.

Room Tip: Executive room with lounge access

Having arrived from Australia on a long flight with two sleeping children, we were so happy to be greeted by the friendly staff at the Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre. This was our stopover on a trip to Europe, so we were hoping for a nice place to get a decent rest. We were not disappointed. Staff were so efficient at check-in and when we told them we were just stopping over for the night and that we had a late flight out of Singapore the next day, the manager said "I will give you a late check-out, you just tell me when you want to leave"! Fantastic! Rooms were great, well appointed, modern and very clean. Breakfast was great. Cannot rate this place highly enough - would definitely stay here again!!

There are so many hotels to choose from in Singapore, which can also be very expensive. After reading so many reviews we decided on the Holiday Inn.Why it is not top 10, I don't know? So glad we did. We were upgraded to club level and facilities which was fabulous (included 2 pieces of laundry a day...needed due to the humidity). The breakfast, high tea and cocktail hour was well above par. The staff could never do enough for you. They were always friendly and polite.
The rooms have all been refurbed...bathroom shower was awesome, especially after a day outside in the heat. I would match these rooms in any other 5 star hotel. The location is just off Orchard Road so you did not hear any traffic. Taxis are very cheap in Singapore and you would pay no more than $10 from one side of the city to the other. A $20 taxi fare took us to the zoo.
I would not hesitate staying at the Holiday Inn again and would highly recommend this Hotel.
Hope this helps....

Room Tip: Upgrade to club...Well worth it!

In general, this was a good hotel -- great location as it is near shops, restaurants, and trains. Staff was courteous -- but on the first day, they took rather long to respond to simple requests. We booked two rooms. At check-in time, only 1 room was ready. It took nearly 2 hours for them to get the second room ready -- we had to keep on calling the front desk. Room was finally ready when we complained to the Manager on Duty. We missed a planned excursion because of the delay. The Manager made up for it by giving us a free van to the airport on our trip home. Overall, we liked the hotel and will probably stay there again -- but the delay in getting our rooms ready was really frustrating and uncomfortable.
