Robertson Quay Hotel
Ranked #240 of 317 Hotels in Singapore
Reviewed April 9, 2012

I had selected Robertson Quay Hotel by chance for my first time in Singapore years ago.
Since then I've always returned because I find what I need in this pricey city with its hot climate: location, pool, comfortable bed and quite affordable price.
It's very true that the hotel deadly needs a renovation.

Rooms are tiny but again, the bed is comfortable, and we can enjoy large views of the skyline and green space. TV programs aren't bad. I've seen tinier rooms in Hong Kong.
What is special is the bathroom. It is the smallest I've ever seen. First time visitors, be ready to that. Yet there is still a WC, a sink and a shower with a curtain.
The swimming pool is at the 4th floor if I remember. Yes this is small but you can have it just for yourself most of the time. Use the heavy waterfall to massage your back!
If your room is nearby you can walk directly to/from the pool. Very cool, isn't it?

The reception is, well, not the warmest in the world. Nothing to complain about, though.
The buffet breakfast is the same every morning but you'll be full before leaving the hotel. The dining room is pretty pleasant and bright. It is also possible to eat outside.

The location is the big plus of the hotel, just near Clarke Quay and in front of the river. Numerous restaurants and bars are nearby. This is where people go to chill out night time and during the week-end. No need to take taxi or MRT after dinner, just a 5 min walk.
Clarke Quay MRT is nearby. You can even walk until the Merlion through Boat Quay.
If you like food courts, the Maxwell Food Centre in Chinatown (with its famous Tian Tian Chicken Rice) is at 5 min by taxi.

I wish there was free wifi Internet in the hotel, but this is Singapore, nothing is free ...

Room Tip: If you can have a view on the city it's nicer.

I arrived 11am. So I was told to put my suitcase in an open space and to come back at 2pm, and "your credit card for o verification". This is a summary of the service level. The no service breakfast is ok for 3 days, then you realize the very limited choice. The hotel is lodging hookers and ladyboys who propose their services in the elevator. One of the most uncharming hotels I ever entered.

location is very good but the room is small, the breakfast is same everyday. Some of the staff are friendly but some not. The distance to the MRT station is not really far and the view during the night is very good. The are many food and cafe along the river

In line with other reviews here the hotel could do with a facelift. It was however in a good central location and the MRT just a few minutes stroll away. Although the rooms are small they are adequate for an overnight stop over and no worse than many city centre hotels I have used worldwide. Breakfast was better than expected and I did manage a good night's sleep. On the whole I would use again

Stayed here for 3 nights. We chose it because of it's location close to Clark Quay and the hotel being on the river edge. And because it's probably the cheapest hotel in the area.
From previous reviews we wen't expecting much and it pretty much lived up to others reviews.
The hotel is showing it's age and needs renovation. Not that it was dirty, just run down. OK for us I suppose because we just wanted a basic hotel in that area ---- and we got it.
The rooms are of the size you would expect and nowhere to put / hang your clothes except on the window ledge. The bathroom is tiny and you can't swing a cat. There is no exhaust fan in there -- it's outside the door. Not much use when you want to use the toilet. The sheets were changed daily which was a surprise. The hotel style is circular built in the atrium model.
Thus it's very noisy as noise echoes throughout , especially will people slamming doors. Also there are no smoking floors which really are useless because smoke can enter the open atrium and filter everywhere. Breakfast is VERY basic and the choices do not alter from day to day.
Would we stay there again ? Maybe, only after investigating all other hotel options ( which are very expensive in Singapore ) Could I recommend others to stay there --- probably not. Shop around and do your homework.

Room Tip: Try and not get a room above the lobby area. It could get noisy especially at breakast time because...

The best thing about this hotel is its location. If you like going out at night then the riverside bars and joints are just a few meters away.... walking distance from this hotel.

People walk in Singapore and when I say walk i mean really walk and walk.... :-)

Orchard road is just 3-4 Singapore blocks away.

Breakfast is practically the same every morning.

The pool is small.

The rooms are tiny..... Singapore standard rooms I guess. But the big plus is..... from our 10th floor room we had a great view of the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the big pool of the neighboring hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room at the top! :-)

Stayed at this place last week. Hotel service was good. We were allowed early check-in on request. Got a twin room as there was no other room left. It was not difficult to bring the two beds together. The bathroom was small - just had standing room. There were many patches of mould. Otherwise the room was clean. Breakfast was included in our stay. It had a wide variety of options. The other reviews have said it correctly that the location is great but the hotel is bit worn out. It needs revamp. About 10 min from Clarke Quay MRT and the action/party.
