Reviewed January 19, 2013

Attended a course at this hotel. Location is good near Beach road and Arab street so its great for people who love Shisha. However, if you don't, avoid this hotel and book Oasia Hotel instead.

Gotten torn towel in the room. Room smell of cigarette. Ants at the teabreak snack items etc etc.

Room Tip: Don't book this hotel unless u like shisha.

Hi Esther,

Please accept our apologies for the lapse in our services. Our Housekeeping team is replacing their linen with new stocks and we had reminded our room attendants to alert us of any cigarette smell on our non-smoking floors. We are sorry that we fell below your expectations, but would like that you give us another chance and return to LVH for a weekend stay.

Yours sincerely,

My family and I passed through Singapore on the 29th and 30th December 2012 as we were enroute to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. My family is young so we broke up the journey from Brisbane to Dar. Initially I thought the lobby was a bit bizarre but the desk staff were friendly and responsive. We had booked two adjoining rooms that were connected via a doorway. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed and certainly were renovated recently. I paid $1400 for two rooms for 2 nights, I thought this was a little pricey but we were travelling during an international holiday period!

I have to agree with some of the other posts about the lifts, I certainly found them to be temperamental at times. The location of the hotel is very handy to the Bugis MRT which we utilised to go on a day trip to Universal Studios. There is a strong damp smell around the lobby area but I find this common in many hotels occupying the tropics.

Now, where the hotel excelled is in posting a very muched loved TeddyBear back to a distraught little boy. My son loves his raggedy bear and unfortunately Bear was forgotten in our scramble to get to Changi. My wife phoned the hotel from the airport and after one or two emails Bear was posted to Dar es Salaam. So thank you to the staff at Landmark, we appreciate the extra mile you went for us. We will certainly stay there again.

Dear Chris,

Thank you for your positive comments. We are very happy that your son’s TeddyBear made it back to him soon after your return to Dar. He must be thrilled to receive his beloved TeddyBear. Our Service team puts in their best foot to delight our guests, as you had experienced firsthand.

Another good news is that our lift panels had been upgraded and is now functioning fuss-free.

We look forward to your return in the future.

my name is Selamat p. and we stayed during the busy christmas period, yet the service was still excellent. We were given a room that was renovated, and it was so easy on the eyes. Room looked posh, and the beds were comfy as!

The concierge were helpful as were the front desk. We got the view facing the mosque and the eastern part of Singapore. We have always stayed at Landmark Village when we return to Singapore, because of the creature comforts in the large rooms, and the close proximity to a lot of amenities.

The gym was well equipped and spacious. We loved the fact that we could just grab breakfast across the road at one of the local Indian eateries. Across the other end, we could just stroll to Bugis Junction and have lots more varieties of food glorious food.

So why do we frequent Breakfast out of the hotel? It was due to the lack of variety in their tandoor restaurant menu for breakfast. Since we only eat halal, we had to join in for the South Indian brekky. And everyday the breakfast spread change so slightly, you would think that it did not change at all! I guess an option for guests would be good, as not all the guest who eat halal food are from India.

We would be please to be offered other Halal food for breakfast apart from Indian food. Perhaps the hotel and its management could look into providing their other guests who were not Indian with different food varieties, or even a section in the same restaurant for Halal and non- Indian food. Western or Malay or even Chinese are the preference.

Our previous stay when we swam at the pool, my daughter had develop some rashes after the swim, normally due to some stuffs she was exposed to. The allergic reaction was quite prominent, so we seek the advise of the local doctor. It was thought to be the pool that was exposed to the busy roadside surroundings, and after a slight rain, the pool was tainted with fumes chemicals from the cars.

Perhaps the pool could be cleaned regularly so that hazards like this would not occur again.

All in all we enjoyed our stay everytime we drop by the hotel in Singapore. We would definitely stay in this hotel again, for sure!

Dear Selamat p,

Thank you for your positive comments. We are happy that you and your family had an enjoyable and memorable time with us. It is good that our concierge chaps were friendly and helpful in recommending you our local sights. Indeed we are surrounding by a variety of makan places and shopping. As for your comments on our choice of breakfast, perhaps we should have offered you a preference of Riverwalk or Mooi Chin. We will look into this. Our Maintenance crew confirms that our swimming pool contractors clean and check the pool water pH and chlorine levels thrice a week. We will conduct a inspection with the contractor again.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family to LVH in the near future.

We were there on a staycation on Dec 2012.

I called in few hours before hand to enquire if we could do an early check in at 12pm n they obliged. (score!) We were also very impressed with their super quick check in, a total of 8mins and we were given 2 key cards and a baby cot (an impromptu request for our 18mth old) to be sent to our room! We had the executive club room on the 18th floor.

We liked how the walkway leading to the rooms are brightly lit. The room overlooked the Jalan Sultan road and we could see the whole town from up there. We could even see the sun set, very scenic!! The most important thing about the room was that it was clean and so was the toilet (very important, yes?) They provide all the basic toiletries like shampoo, shower gel, toothbrushes, soap and shower caps. (my only complaint was that the shower gel kinda not clean enough, it is not very soapy so if you are the clean freak type, bring along your own ^_^) The room was also big enough for my 18th mth oldnto walk and 'explore' around. There was a tv with the local channels and some cable movies.

Room service was good. We called the restaurant (Riverwalk Tandoor) for some snacks and later for dinner. The food was AMAZEBALLS!!!! Must try: the briyani (chicken), the saffron rice, butter chicken masala and the n'aan. It was such a scrumptious meal! My mouth water just thinking abt it! ONE TIP: the food that we ordered can easily feed 5/6 people!!! To my opinion the briyani ($15) must be shared by 2 people. No way can one person eat that on their own!

The clubroom lounge was a nice place to hangout. We love the view too!

The breakfast buffet was simple but delicious. It was the same when we were there for 3 days. It consists of hotdogs, scramble eggs, fries / wedges, baked beans, fried rice, nasi lemak, porridge, cereals, fruits, fried noodles, bread, toast, french toast and of course the hot and cold beverages like coffee, tea, orange n apple juice. They have this egg station where a chef will cook an omellete or fry and egg instantly when u ordered (so i had loads of omellete when we were there, yum yum).

All in all, i would say it is a good hotel, value for money and the staff are friendly.

As for tourists, you may find the array of shops here full of heritage. Nice to walk around in the evening. The food at the local shop houses or cafes are nice. Also surrounded with shops selling fabric (of all kinds) and some clothing shops.

It's a walking distance (maybe abt 10mins) to Bugis Junction and Bugis village, where you can shop till you drop. There is also an mrt at BUgis junction (Bugis mrt).

I have spent a night here on many occasions before I join my ship and the facilities are excellent. Staff are very friendly and will assist you with any problems you have. Two places to eat but I ave only ever used the Indian one. Great buffet and friendly service. No problems for me but I see there are a few negativereviews, you do get some people who expect the ritz in every hotel they visit. This hotel is lower end hotel but strives to be bigger and gets the thumbs up from me.

My husband and I stayed here twice before and after going to Hong Kong in the last couple of weeks.

The first time was for 3 nights. We stayed on the 17th floor, looking over the pool. The room was fine, the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was good, the air conditioning worked well and the room seemed to be maintained well.

The second time we stayed there for 4 nights. The first room we had was on the 17th floor. Our room was next to a very very noisy family with kids who kept going between two rooms (although not the hotels fault at all), the room had a bit of a musty smell and we didn't really figure out till we went to bed that the air con wasn't working correctly. It wasnt hot in the room but it definitly wasn't cool. The next morning we asked to change rooms to one with the air con working and they moved us with no problems to the 10th floor to a renovated room. This room was really great and I wish we had stayed there the whole time!

Other positive things was that the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The location was ok being about two blocks from mrt station, however I am surprised other reviewers found good food outlets around the hotel because we did not.

Some negative things... the lifts are very very slow, when we were in the hotel around 3-4pm one day we had to wait about 5 minutes for the lift and when it opened it was full of people, so we had to wait another few minutes! We did not enjoy the buffet breakfast as we thought there was limited choices and everything was cold and unappealing. We tried to go look at the pool one day and got out of the lift and was rudely turned away saying we can't go there tonight, we later realised there was a wedding or something going on. I found there seemed to be a lot of weddings or group events happening at the Indian restaurant which added to the slow lifts! The hotel is very dated, however our room was dated but very comfortable.

One major thing that really put me off is every time we walked out the front door we smelt rubbish until we turned the corner out of the driveway. I pretty much had to cover my nose every time we walked in and out of the hotel.

Not sure if we would stay here again. I would definitely look at a lot of other places first!

Hi p_canberra,

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that you found our rooms relaxing, comfortable and well met your expectations. It is good that you found our staff obliging and friendly, our team does try their best to provide a 5-star service. Our lifts will be upgraded from this week and these works should resolve the problems with our slow lifts. Riverwalk Tandoor does have a market for wedding banquets in the evenings. However, our pool is open till 7pm and our guests should have access to the pool. We will have a word with our Banquet team and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. The common rubbish bin serves both the shopping units and the hotel. We are working with the building manager to mitigate the smell from the bin centre.

We hope you will still return to us in future.
